Hispanic Television in America: Promoting Unity Or Separatism?
What melting pot?
According to PaidContent.org: “Telemundo, Univision, Azteca America and Fox Sports En Espanol did their TV upfront presentations this week, and lots of talk about digital and multiplatform offerings.”
It’s all about the dinero.
– NBC-owned Telemundo touted its recently formed partnership with Yahoo at the upfront. Telemundo’s online push is closely paired with “mun2,” Telemundo’s “alternative” network that is designed to reach young Latinos. B&C: the Telemundo channel, its youth-targeted cable network mun2 and Yahoo! Telemundo–is offering advertisers 24 different opportunities to put content on digital platforms, according to Steve Mandala, Senior VP, Sales and Marketing, Telemundo and NBC Universal Networks.
– Fox Sports En Espanol: Fox Sports en Español is developing a number of broadband and non-linear initiatives. The network already has a partnership in place with mobile content developer Proteus, as well as a monthly video-on-demand deal with Comcast and a new broadband home at fse.tv.
Now wonder the MSM “treads lightly” on (or as Michelle Malkin likes to say, “white washes”) the issue of immigration. Even FOX is in on the action.
But at least they’ve got Bill O’Reilly, setting the record straight.

So, my wife, who is Ukrainian by birth but now a US citizen, likes to watch Russian TV and Russian movies. Does this make her a separatist? If I like watching them with her, does this make me a traitor to my own country? WTF?

Hence, our question mark in the title. We’ll let the audience decide.

Europe is currently reaping the bitter fruits of multiculturalism, this idea that all languages and cultures can co exist, all with equal importance cannot work.
We need to rid ourselves of this notion that all can do as they please. I say embrace the country’s language (whatever it is) and its culture and adapt to it.
Afterall we don’t emigrate to America or Australia because we love our homelands so much do we.
