The presence of illegal aliens makes labor law a defacto tax upon employers for hiring American labor. This is the reason that there are tent cities filled with American citizens in Los Angeles. This is the reason the guy holding the “will work for food” sign at the offramp is a white guy or a black guy but never a Mexican.
Take a Mexican from in front of Home Depot to do your painting and you don’t have to pay workers compensation insurance.
Take a Mexican and you never have to worry about him calling the Labor Board.
Take a Mexican and forget about overtime, and lunch hour and breaks.
Minimum wage is the Mexicans friend.

Excellent point, Michael. And it’s one the seems to escape the border control conversation.

After all, imagine the news of Mexican migrants and their children in tow getting blown up while trying to enter the states illegally. We can’t have those kinds of headlines. That would be like reading, “Home intruder ignores ‘Beware of dog’ sign and gets mauled by pit bull.”

Indeed, land mines would represent death or a most certain life-threatening injury, thus making the prospects of crossing illegally seem so bleak, so dangerous, so impossible, that…well…um…hey, did you hear the one about they do the jobs no one else wants?
