Earlier this week, contributing blogger Amy Proctor observed: “It’s simply an embarrassing time to be a Democrat.” True words, indeed. And if only the Dems weren’t so shameless, they might see it themselves. Alas, as we often say, recognition is the first step to betterment.

Fortunately, there’s plenty of evidence to make the case.

While we neither subscribe to nor would we refer to the National Enquirer as official “news,” it certainly has earned its place within American media and continues to be consumed by the masses. From exclusive reports of space alien babies to bearded gypsy ladies, the Enquirer knows how to please its readers.

Therefore, it’s a revealing sign of the times when the cover story is featuring none other than Senator Kennedy himself. Headline: “Ted Kennedy: Secret Love Child — 20-Year Cover-Up Exposed — How he paid lover”

Familiar story. Just like he presumably paid to keep silent the family of Mary Jo Kopechne.

As we went thru the grocery checkout aisle this morning, the newsrack caught our eyes and it made us smile to see Kennedy’s black-tied mug plastered on a paper finally befitting a man of his legacy: tabloid news.
