Katrina “Relief”: Sean Penn To The Rescue
Armed with nothing more than a red plastic party cup.
AFP reports: Hollywood activist, Sean Penn, was planning a heroic rescue mission in flooded New Orleans, “but apparently forgot to plug a hole in the bottom of the vessel, which began taking water within seconds of its launch.”
At least Sean can still say that he “bailed water” in New Orleans…

And the scene most didn’t see, but was scooped by our “roving” photo(shop)journalists…

Concluding the story: “With the boat loaded with members of Penn’s entourage, including a personal photographer, one bystander taunted the actor: ‘How are you going to get any people in that thing?’”
Everybody’s a critic. Go figure.
UPDATE:
Don’t try anything stupid. Please make a donation to the American Red Cross today, and leave the rescue and aid efforts to people who know what they’re doing.
TTLB is keeping a log of money raised.
Kobayashi Moru has more.
Hog on Ice says, “Go home, Sean. Just write a check and go home.”

Ace of Spades has the “Top Ten Rescuers In Sean Penn’s Dingy of Celebrity Mercy”
UPDATE III:
Thanks to reader John D, we’ve “uncovered” another important photo. Cindy Sheehan prays: “Please, dear God, put the attention back on me, soon…”

The second pic is a very crude Photoshop fake.
Penn is still a tool, though.

Oops. Was that comment between the pics there before? If so, might want to make it a little larger. Or better yet, just lose the silly pic. Penn is ridiculous enough without help.

You mean Penn can’t walk on water??? Jesus!
September 5th, 2005 at 12:44 pm
Isn’t there a way you could squeeze Cindy and Al into the boat? Sean looks like he needs some “moral” support.

Leave Sean Penn alone! He just wanted to help! You neo-cons will do anything to ridicule a good, caring, feeling man…

The fact that this ‘tard brought his freaking personal photographer along is all we need to know about his motives.

Bwa-ha-ha-ha… this situation cried out for some levity. Thanks. And yes, this household is involved in The Red Cross, so thanks for the plug!

Sean Penn, New Orleans is not a Publicity Tour
Sean Penn went to New Orleans to help out. I applaud his efforts, but he ran into a snag. Someone forgot to put the plug into the boat which caused it to carry on water. How the water had room I don’t know, but more on that later.

Sean Penn gets into rescue act
BY NICOLE BODE
DAILY NEWS STAFF WRITER
NEW ORLEANS - Sean Penn took matters into his own hands yesterday, launching a boat in a personal effort to rescue New Orleans families stranded by Hurricane Katrina.
The Oscar-winning actor and political activist managed to reach several people who had been trapped in their homes since the hurricane hit Monday.
Penn, who was accompanied by his personal photographer and a crew of helpers, brought the victims to dry land - and gave them cash as well.
Johnnie Brown, 73, a retired custodian, called his sister on a cell phone after being plucked from his flooded house. “Guess who come and got me out of the house? Sean Penn the actor. Them boys were really nice,” he said.
Penn later accompanied a few of them to a hospital.
Asked what he was doing in the disaster zone, Penn said, “Whatever I can do to help.”
“There’s a lot of people out there,” Penn said. “There’s bodies everywhere. We could only do so many houses.”
The outspoken Penn has made several forays into political activism. He visited Iraq in the weeks before the U.S. launched the war to topple Saddam Hussein and recently journeyed to Iran and wrote a series of stories about life in the Islamic republic.

Hint Sean start the motor and take off. The plug hole is at the very back and once moving the water will drain right out then you put the forgotten plug in.

hey anyone notice, sean penn is part of the problem not the solution(obviously), with every scoop of water he bails out of the boat he’s drowning more victims. just a litl experiment with liberal logic that’s all. want to be scared and not sleep at night. wisit democraticunderground and read some of the stuff that’s posted on that sites message boards. your blood will run cold. don’t try and write anything there though, they’ll get your ip address and permanently ban you, cause they are so tolerant, openminded, and understanding to diversity.
ps great photoshops

you people are insane. you see one person helping other people and you automatically say that the person is doing it for their own benefit. then when something goes wrong you act like he is an idiot. why dont you guys go do something constructive instead of badmouthing someone you dont even know. your all mad at him for helping people that are in need you should be ashamed of yourselves. this isnt about liberal/conservative anymore this is about being a human and helping out.

Goose,
“this isnt about liberal/conservative anymore this is about being a human and helping out”
Really? It’s not partisan? BET you’re going to say it’s not about race, either.
The news proves you wrong. See here, here, here, here or here or here.

[...] Ah, yes, the Hollywood glitz — and obviously the power table. Must feel good. Must feel important. We only hope that Sean Penn had a designated driver for the evening. “But Beatty used most of his address to rail against the Republican governor’s “year of reform” ballot initiatives in the Nov. 8 special election. Schwarzenegger is pushing several measures that would curb the power of the Democrat-controlled Legislature and the state’s powerful public employee unions. [...]

i love how goose, the liberal above, states “why dont you guys go do something constructive instead of badmouthing someone you dont even know”, boy, this is calling the kettle black, no sense or logic.
the 1st thing liberals do is name call conservatives, (bush, reagan, rush), whom they don’t know, then turn around & claim penn is just trying to help humanity, sean donate all your belongings to the helpless, they need it more than you, you can act/direct/produce, they have nothing & goose, stop trying to further liberal socialist agendas.
