New Orleans Levee System is Lousy?
Not Compared to Sacramento…
Sactodan blogged on this the other day.
I picked up a story off the AP wire a couple of days ago. Since I was focused on the Convention, I have held the story in my e-mail box.
SactoDan’s post and the AP story underscore the need to build the Auburn Dam for one and also the need to slap the environmentalists upside the head for interfering with mainatinence efforts with regards to the levee system in the Sacramento Delta. While Many of Sacramento’s Levees were injected with Concrete a few years ago… this only got them up to 50-100 year flood standards.
Leave us not forget that SactoDan’s home is near a drainage canal that was full when I saw it and the concrete river about a mile away was also full. Scary stuff indeed as Sacto’s home is 5 feet or so below sea level.
Read the L.A. Times article here. (Notice how the LA Slime tries to spin this to be Arnold’s fault?)
I love how they conveniently ignore the extremist environmental policies that have precipitated this problem?
Easy solution, AUBURN DAM… practice some self talk here… AUBURN DAM. Keep saying it, it gets easier as you go along. The first step to recovery is admitting there is a problem.
Sometimes life dictates that one must heed the call… will it take SactoDan and thousands of others losing their homes before those in charge will do the right thing? I hope not… I hope we fix this problem before people die in a flood.
