That’s the question that I’d love hearing more African-Americans would ask Republican because I’d bet they’d be surprised with these answers:

CREATING JOBS FOR AFRICAN AMERICANS AND BUILDING ECONOMIC SECURITY
Tax Relief
Allows 3 million African-American families to save more for their children’s needs by raising the Child Tax Credit from $600 to $1,000 per child this year.

Commitment to Bridging the Homeownership Gap
President George W. Bush signed the American Dream Downpayment Act which attacks the homeownership gap that exists across America by helping approximately 40,000 minority families each year with their down payment and closing costs. Homeownership among African Americans is at its highest rate ever. Within the next decade an estimated 4.09 million full time jobs in construction and construction-related industries will be created. This increase in jobs represents over $150 billion in new wages.

PROVIDING EQUAL OPPORTUNITY FOR QUALITY EDUCATION
Increasing Access to Higher Education
Funding for minority serving institutions is up by 30% under the Bush Administration. The President’s budget includes over $200 million for Historically Black Colleges and Universities and almost $60 million for Historically Black Graduate Institutions.

Head Start
The President is working to ensure that a greater number of Head Start teachers are adequately trained and educated in early childhood development. One-third of the students enrolled in Head Start programs are African Americans.

STRENGTHENING FAITH AND FAMILIES
Medicare Prescription Drug Benefit
Provides an annual upfront pharmaceutical credit of $600 per low-income beneficiary for individual seniors with incomes under $12,900 a year and senior couples with incomes under $16,600. More than 3.5 million disabled and senior African Americans are able to realize significant savings of up to 25% of what they currently pay for pharmaceuticals with a Prescription Drug Discount Card.

Faith and Community Based Initiative
President Bush signed and executive order to make it easier for people in need to gain access to the broadest range of assistance possible. Recognizing churches are often the first source of assistance in a community, the executive order eliminated discriminatory barriers imposed on faith-based and community groups.

It seems to me that that’s a pretty positive list of things that the Bush administration is doing. I’m betting that it’s getting noticed by those who’ve been given this information.

I’d also love seeing African-Americans ask Democrats “What Have You Done For Me Lately?” The only honest answer they could give is “Taken you for granted.” Considering their propensity for hyperbole, I’d expect them to ignore the question and launch into a diatribe about ‘Evil’ George Bush.

That’s the difference between Republicans and Democrats. Democrats are starting to sound kinda scary, aren’t they?
