The Real John Murtha
That’s the title of the Washington Times’ editorial that’s must reading if you want to understand the Democrats dishonesty on the “Culture of Corruption” nonissue.
Last June, the Los Angeles Times reported how the ranking member on the defense appropriations subcommittee has a brother, Robert Murtha, whose lobbying firm represents 10 companies that received more than $20 million from last year’s defense spending bill. “Clients of the lobbying firm KSA Consulting, whose top officials also include former congressional aide Carmen V. Scialabba, who worked for Rep. Murtha as a congressional aide for 27 years, received a total of $20.8 million from the bill,” the L.A. Times reported.
In early 2004, according to Roll Call, Mr. Murtha “reportedly leaned on U.S. Navy officials to sign a contract to transfer the Hunters Point Shipyard to the city of San Francisco.” Laurence Pelosi, nephew of House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi, at the time was an executive of the company which owned the rights to the land. The same article also reported how Mr. Murtha has been behind millions of dollars worth of earmarks in defense appropriations bills that went to companies owned by the children of fellow Pennsylvania Democrat, Rep. Paul Kanjorski.
Meanwhile, the Center for Responsive Politics, a nonpartisan campaign-finance watchdog group, lists Mr. Murtha as the top recipient of defense industry dollars in the current 2006 election cycle.
This isn’t innuendo. It’s verified fact. Murtha went out of his way to earmark money to (a) his brother; (b) a former staffer; and (c) Nancy Pelosi’s nephew. I’d call that a sleazy trifecta.
There’s also this ‘Golden Oldy’:
But as we’re on the subject, few might recall that after the massive 1980 Abscam scandal, Mr. Murtha was named by the FBI as an “unindicted co-conspirator.”
It seems that Murtha is as ethically challenged as he is intellectually challenged, which is saying alot. Think of this editorial as just another reason why Murtha MUST Go and why Diana Irey must be elected. If you want Murtha silenced, contribute to Diana’s cause. She’ll make conservatives proud!!!

It’s been my observation in life that anyone who takes the high moral ground by force (farce?) as many times and as vocally as Murtha does, does so to hide or cover one’s own inconsistencies.
Point of the article noted. And recorded for the next moonbat who brings up the “culture of corruption.”

For those of you old enough to remember, Murtha is also on record as an unindicted co-conspirator in the ABSCAM case—another mark of his Life Membership in the “culture of corruption.”
I’m told that Rush has just mentioned this on his show, but I can’t confirm that.

Pangur, I watched the show on the DittoCam. I can confirm that Rush read from the Novak article that I linked to in my vote article.
BTW, if anyone likes Rush’s parodies, then subscribing to Rush 24/7 is worth it. He plays them during all the commercial breaks. Talk about a hoot!!!
