By the way, in your comments above you express that Republicans support torture. I don’t know any that do.

Well I have read much on this site supporting using torture against terror suspects. Also Guantanemo is well supported.

Hard for me to believe that there is anyone who is in support of higher taxes, but there may be.

Really I know loads of people who would like tax raised to the Swedish rates of 50% income tax.

The best place for those people is in the Republican Party which is open to ideas of all stripes.
At the moment I don't think that the party is nor is the democrats. So what ever party supports more of your beliefs is the one for you. Even if they don't support 1 of you beliefs.

Simon,

Criticism of Israel is not per se anti-semitic. But much of the rhetoric coming from the left is clearly anti-semitic. Go to the source article for some examples. It is about American Jews, not about Israel.

Secondly, there may be some Jews who don't want to vote Republican because they are opposed to other issues supported by Republicans, but if they stay in the Democratic Party they will be associated with a party which is increasingly anti-Jewish. By the way, in your comments above you express that Republicans support torture. I don't know any that do.

There will always be leftist Jews who don't want like some of the conservative issues such as support for the sanctity of marriage between a man and a woman, support for the death penalty for hardened criminals who have committed murder, support for the right to bear arms as provided in the Constitution, and, as you state, support for low taxes. Hard for me to believe that there is anyone who is in support of higher taxes, but there may be.

The best place for those people is in the Republican Party which is open to ideas of all stripes. They can have a greater effect in the Republican Party without compromising their Jewish principles and associations than they can in the Democratic Party as it is presently constituted.

elected Democratic politicians there is a pervasive anti-Israel, anti-Jewish mood.
Surely you can be anti-Israel and not anti-Jewish?

Also surely you can be anti-israeli policies and Jewish.

If I don't like Canada's policies (for instances) does that make me anti-Canadian?

Not all critism of Israel is anti-semitic. (doesn't mean none of it is either).

People can also be more then one issue people.

I Heart low tax and support the war in Iraq but if I was an american I would not vote republican because I disagree on other issues. Death penalty, torture, gun control, gay marriage.

Same with Democratic jews. Maybe they do agree with republicans on Israel but not Death penalty, torture, gun control, gay marriage low tax etc etc.
