It's hard to believe that Americans are debating how much torture is acceptable.  the problem here is that TORTURE DOES NOT WORK ON INNOCENT PEOPLE, AND SOME PEOPLE ARE INNOCENT.

I would think that the recent example of a man sent to Syria and tortured for a year or so before his innocence was established would be enough for people to realize that an accusation is not guilt, and that you can't torture a man enough to make him say he didn't do it...convincingly.

Try this mental experiment.  Say an innocent person, perhaps you, is accused, and subjected to "harsh interrogation techniques."  How much torture would you accept to maintain your claim of innocence?</description>
