Will the Leadership be calling for Jefferson to Resign as the did for Tom Delay? and will Jefferson himself accept responsibility for his actions and accept the consequences like Duke Cunningham did? Somehow I doubt it. My guess is that Jefferson and the Democratic Leadership will attempt to protray him as the "victim" in this, perhaps employing the Race Card to achieve that objective. William Jefferson were referred to the House Ethics Committee. Remember this is the same ethics committee that still has not decided the fate of Washington Rep. James McDermott for having passed along a recording resulting from an "unlawful monitoring" of a phone call between Republican House Leadership back when Newt was Speaker.
