BillyJoeJimBob, you must have been sleeping when the teacher covered the Constitution in your governmnent class or maybe you went to school in LAUSD?? How does Iraq come into this discussion? While you're at it, why not ask why Japan and Germany aren't in the same discussion, they were also shortchanged, right? I guess it is because...let me see...hmmm, it isn't in their Constitution?

Ever hear of the Articles of Confederation? Even the Founding Fathers had a "Do Over"...maybe Iraq will end up with similar provisions down the road, who knows...first task is securing the country so they have half a chance.

So, exactly what 'errors and defects' are we talking about here and how does the electoral college correct them? You might want to explain that. If, as you say, it's difficult to get accurate election results, why do the Republicans fight just as hard for recounts in close elections? Shouldn't they just say 'Oh, well, that's close enough. I guess we'll try again another day. Let the Dems have this one'. Where do you draw the line then? So are you saying that direct elections are good enough for the Iraqis but dangerously error prone for the American public????? That seems pretty stupid. If there were going to be error prone elections, seems to me they'd be in Iraq, not here. The electoral college members generally vote for the candidate who won the popular vote in their state, but they are not required by law to do so. Seems to me that's a pretty big 'error' in the system, eh? Maybe you have some other reason for disliking change?

Doesn't matter how much anyone screams or if California passes another stupid law...the electoral college is in the constitution therefore it requires a 2/3 majority of states to change and that "ain't going to happen" even in today's political climate...besides it protects us little states from all those dead people in Chicago voting in Democrats...

They tried that last year. Someone pointed out that what they propose is against the law. I forget the details, but it has something to do with states getting together among themselves and swapping votes.

Still bitter after all these years. I recommend mass counseling for the left to get over it already.
