Blame It On Bush, Part III
In news certain to depress liberals, the AP’s Martin Crutsinger, one of their economic writers, is reporting that “Inflation slowed sharply in February as food costs moderated and the price of gasoline, natural gas and other energy products posted big declines.” Here’s more of the liberals’ depressing news:
The Labor Department reported Thursday that its closely watched Consumer Price Index posted a tiny 0.1 percent increase last month after having jumped 0.7 percent in January. Analysts said the slowdown in price pressures was certain to be welcomed at the Federal Reserve, which has been boosting interest rates since June 2004 to make sure inflation does not get out of control. “While there is no room for complacency, the Fed can take comfort in the fact that core inflation remains tame,” said Patrick Newport, an economist at Global Insight, a private forecasting firm.
Chalk it up as proof of President Bush’s failed economic policies. Naturally, we expect this to be trumpeted on the front pages of all the major newspapers and for it to be the lead story on the network news. NOT.
