Remembering MLK
“The ultimate measure of a man is not where he stands in moments of comfort, but where he stands at times of challenge and controversy.”
– Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.
(1929-1968), US civil rights leader
“The whirlwinds of revolt will continue to shake the foundations of our nation until the bright day of justice emerges. But there is something that I must say to my people who stand on the warm threshold which leads into the palace of justice. In the process of gaining our rightful place we must not be guilty of wrongful deeds. Let us not seek to satisfy our thirst for freedom by drinking from the cup of bitterness and hatred.”
– Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.
(1929-1968), US civil rights leader

“If a man hasn’t discovered something
that he will die for,
he isn’t fit to live.”
– Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.
(1929-1968), US civil rights leader

Martin Luther King should always be remembered for his dream that someday, skin color would count for nothing and a person’s character would count for everything. By MLK’s own standard, Bill Clinton was a miserable failure.

If MLK was around today, the civil rights movement would denounce him as an Uncle Tom for wanting a color-blind society, instead of a balkanized quilt of competing “victim” groups.
