A Christmas Greeting from a Muslim Friend

My friend Amil Imani has posted another thoughtful message – this time a Christmas greeting and a wish for peace on Earth and goodwill to all men. Such messages deserve a careful read and distribution:

This is the time of the year that the air is filled with everything Christmas. There is something for everyone: gifts for family and friends, prayers at churches, and Christmas music everywhere. It puts me in a contemplative mood, particularly when I hear the delightful Christian refrain, peace on earth, goodwill to men. This is the gift I want. This is my Christmas.

When there is peace on earth and all people dispense and receive good will. Yet, I am saddened to see the world as it is, particularly with what Islam is doing to it, which is the exact opposite of working for peace and extending goodwill to all people. My contemplation takes me to the genesis of Islam.

Something I have come to view as a scourge of humanity, and here are a few of my random thoughts about the founder of Islam: the person who launched a religion that has denied peace to mankind right from the start, the person who advanced a religion that began with war, continues with war, and aims to carry on with bloodletting to the end of time. All this makes me think and shake my head in bewilderment. (more here)

Such messages draw hatred and threats from the radicals who post comments like those found in the comments section of his blog. Because of his courage, the least we can do is share his message of peace and post messages on his blog so that the world knows that evil is less powerful than the forces of good. Please let him know that he is not alone in his comments.

I find it interesting that the first of the comments was a fiery tirade on submission to Islam or die! Yes, that’s quite a peaceful religion ya got there, fella.

The author’s angst seems to be real confusion. Maybe if he studied another, “similar” religion whose origins go back thousands of years and whose apex started in a lowly stable in the city of David, he could find the inner peace he searches for. He would find prophesy fulfilled, and instead of hate, murder, lying and cheating extolled for the spread of that religion he could find forgiveness.

Who knows? It could be worth a shot, Sir.

Yeah, kind of ironic isnt it. All the indignation from some about all the wars and death claimed in the name of Christianity, yet not one peep from the same gang about who it was those Christian armies were fighting against.
