Great post. I live in Sacramento and attended the Tea Party at the Capital. I must say, I was quite excited by the numbers of people as well as their polite, fun-loving attitudes. I like what you said about the government needing to listen to "we the people." And that's why I'm not overly bothered by the media's lack of attention to these protests. We didn't do this for the media (like all the far left groups do). We did it to send our government a message. And believe me, they're nervous! That's why they don't want the media to cover these things. They're hoping they're just a fad that will go away. WRONG! That's why we must remain passionate and remain active.

What we need is to have an election every 4 years so we can vote for someone the American people can stand behind. Democratically elected following a rigorous evaluation process where opponents compete against each other, this "president" will lead the country as a representative of the people. I think this system can work.

The losing side, in the meantime, gets to eat a shit sandwich because their policies over the last 8 years have failed and have led to their subsequent minority status. Notice that Republicans did not have an alternative budget to Obama's and are not offering relevant ideas to the ongoing discussion on the economy. All conservatives seem to have are tea parties.
