CBS: Five Reasons Why Obama Won

Thursday, June 5th, 2008

CBS has an article that talks about the 5 reasons why Sen. Obama is the Democratic nominee. Here are their 5 reasons:

The War In Iraq
Change v. Experience
Iowa And The Process
Cold, Hard, Cash
Superdelegates

Actually, I think the reasons he’s the nominee are much less complicated than that. He’s their nominee because of Hillary’s disastrous Drexel debate, which exposed the fact that she’d say anything (a) to get elected and (b) to avoid answering a difficult question. He’s also the nominee because she ran an inept campaign until it was too late. Finally, he’s the nominee because the Agenda Media didn’t vet him until the Wright tapes emerged. Had the Wright tapes come out in December, 2007, he wouldn’t be the nominee. PERIOD.

Sen. Obama’s fundraising speech in San Francisco, coupled with the Wright videos, exposed Sen. Obama. After that, people knew that he wasn’t a postpartisan politician. Regaining his original lustre is Obama’s biggest challenge between now and November. I don’t think he’ll pull it off. (more…)

**BREAKING NEWS** Barry Bonds Indicted

Thursday, November 15th, 2007

That’s the headline I never thought I’d see. Here’s what Bonds is charged with:

Baseball superstar Barry Bonds was charged Thursday with perjury and obstruction of justice for allegedly lying when he said he did not use performance-enhancing drugs.

Here’s the link to the actual indictment. Here’s some of Bonds’ grand jury testimony:

Q: I know the answer - - let me ask you this again. I know we kind of got the into this. Let me be real clear about this. Did he [Anderson] ever give you anything that you knew to be a steroid? Did he ever give a steroid?
A: I don’t think Greg would do anything like that to me and jeopardize our friendship. I just don’t think he would do that.
Q: Well, when you say you don’t think he would do that, to your knowledge, 1 mean, did you ever take any steroids that he gave you?
(a) A: Not that I know of.
…………………………..
Q: Okay. So, 1 got to ask, Mr. Bonds. There’s this number associated on a document with your name, and corresponding to Barry B. on the other document, and it does have these two listed anabolic steroids as testing positive in connection with it. Do you follow my question?
A: I follow where you’re going, yeah.
Q: So, 1 guess I got to ask the question again, I mean, did you take steroids? And specifically this test is in November, 2000. So I’m going to ask you in the days and weeks leading up to November, 2000, were you taking steroids–
A: No.
Q: - - or anything like that?
A: No, 1 wasn’t at all. I’ve never seen these documents. I’ve never seen these papers.
Q: So, starting in December 2001, on this page. again, there’s BB here, which obviously are consistent with your initials; correct?
A: He could know other BBs.
Q: Correct. But BB would also be your initials; is that correct.
A: That’s correct.
Q: In January 2001 were you taking either the flax seed oil or the cream?
A: No.
Q: And were you taking any other steroids?
(e) A: No.

The White House issued this statement after Bonds’ indictment broke:

President Bush, a former baseball team owner who has spoken against steroid use,
is “very disappointed to hear this,” said White House spokesman Tony Fratto. “As this case is now in the criminal justice system, we will refrain from any further specific comments about it. But clearly this is a sad day for baseball.”

If they’re able to convict Bonds on these charges, his single season home run record could be wiped out. If that happens, Bonds would be well short of Hank Aaron’s record, which would put a big smile on my face.

Democrat Base Shows its Colors

Saturday, November 3rd, 2007

Once again, Zombietime accompanies the Democrat base of sagging, drug-addled, road-weary hippies and moonbats who seek relevance for their wasted lives by joining this San Francisco anti-war rally.

110th Congress Makes History

Saturday, October 27th, 2007

This Congress made history when Nancy Pelosi became the first female Speaker of the House. They also made history when Keith Ellison became the first Muslim elected to the House of Representatives. Not all of their firsts have been positive achievements, though. According to Minority Whip Roy Blunt’s statement, I’d call the 110th Congress an embarassment of historic proportions. Here’s the text of Rep. Blunt’s statement:

“Not since Jim Wright was the speaker of the House has Congress failed to send even one spending bill, not even the critically important veterans’ spending bill, to the president this late in the year. While a milestone in and of itself, it’s hardly an accomplishment to be proud of, especially since it didn’t have to be this way. The Senate has appointed conferees to every single spending measure it has passed. It’s anyone’s guess as to why the speaker hasn’t followed suit, but it seems more than apparent that politics might have something to do with it.

“It’s time for the majority to live up to the promise it made earlier this year and stop politicizing our troops. It can do that by finishing the veterans funding bill immediately, and then moving on to the other six that have secured the support of both chambers, but not the support, apparently, of Democratic leadership. All Republicans are asking is that Congress actually do its job. Is that too much to ask?”

NOTE: The House passed the veterans’ appropriations bill on June 15, 2007 by a margin of 409-2, with the Senate passing its own version and naming conferees on September 6th. Blunt joined Mr. Boehner and other Republican leaders in August in sending a letter to the speaker urging her to agree to a conference, appoint conferees, and reconcile a final bill. She has not yet complied.

This afternoon, I called into the Final Word while they talked about Jim Oberstar not helping getting the emergency appropriation bill passed and signed for rebuilding the I-35 Bridge. I said that we’d all heard the Democrats “6 for ‘06″ campaign slogan but little did we think that that’s all that they’d accomplish this year.

I’ve called them the “Congress That Wouldn’t Govern“. Rep. Blunt’s statement re-inforces that opinion. It’s long past time to get these spending bills finished. While I’ll readily admit that it isn’t common to get all thirteen bills done in time, it’s unheard of to see Congress not pass a single bill for the president to sign. (more…)

San Francisco Tries Out Injection Center for Drug Addicts

Saturday, October 20th, 2007

(Credit: AP Photo/Bernd Kammerer)

AP reports: “SAN FRANCISCO - City health officials took steps Thursday toward opening the nation’s first legal safe-injection room, where addicts could shoot up heroin, cocaine and other drugs under the supervision of nurses.

The City already provides needles, so why not a lounge for drug addicts and other derelicts to engage in their “lifestyle choice,” borrowing the phrase from liberal parlance.

“Hoping to reduce San Francisco’s high rate of fatal drug overdoses, the public health department co-sponsored a symposium on the only such facility in North America […]

“Having the conversation today will help us figure out whether this is a way to reduce the harms and improve the health of our community,” said Grant Colfax, director of HIV prevention for the San Francisco Department of Public Health.

Don’t liberals prefer fish-with-feet instead of faith and christian charity? In other words, if we let nature take its course and allow Darwin to prevail, these addicts will sink or swim as prescribed by the secular science of ’survival of the fittest.’ (Crutches not included)

Bertha Madras, deputy director of demand reduction for the White House Office of National Drug Control Policy, called San Francisco’s consideration of such a facility “disconcerting” and “poor public policy.”

“The underlying philosophy is, ‘We accept drug addiction, we accept the state of affairs as acceptable,’” Madras said. “This is a form of giving up.”

Not giving up. Not San Francisco. It’s call giving in - to the so-called ‘progressives’ who believe there are no “standards” or notions of “common decency”, because everyone should be “entitled” to pursue whatever degenerate lifestyle he/she/it desires, without accountability or responsibility to community. That is, unless you’re a hardworking taxpayer, who should be tapped to pay for every new whim and socialist program.

Advocates plan to work on building community support for a safe-injection center, including backing from Mayor Gavin Newsom and the Board of Supervisors.

The mayor’s spokesman, Nathan Ballard, said Thursday that although he does not want to discourage debate, he “is not inclined to support this program because, quite frankly, it may create more problems than it supposedly addresses.”

…y’think?

So, what’s next? A City-run porno parlor for pedophiles?

Nevermind. In SF, any bad idea will find support.

Republicans Jump On Stark’s Statements

Friday, October 19th, 2007

Republicans have pounced on Pete Stark’s diatribe, demanding that he apologize. Here’s what Pete Stark said yesterday:

“I’m just amazed that they can’t figure out…the Republicans are worried that they can’t pay for insuring an additional 10 million children. They sure don’t care about finding $200 billion to fight the illegal war in Iraq.”

If you think that’s bad, brace yourself. As you’ll soon see, it got much more ridiculous. Here’s the most bombastic of Stark’s statements:

“Where are you going to get that money? Are you going to tell us lies like you’re telling us today? Is that how you’re going to fund the war? You don’t have money to fund the war or children. But you’re going to spend it to blow up innocent people if we can get enough kids to grow old enough for you to send to Iraq to get their heads blown off for the president’s amusement.”

Now Republicans are demanding Pete Stark apologize: (more…)

Pete Stark Losing It

Thursday, October 18th, 2007

Fortney Pete Stark lost it on the House Floor this morning during the SCHIP veto override debate. It wasn’t pretty:

“I’m just amazed that they can’t figure out…the Republicans are worried that they can’t pay for insuring an additional 10 million children. They sure don’t care about finding $200 billion to fight the illegal war in Iraq.”

That wasn’t the worst of it:

“Where are you going to get that money? Are you going to tell us lies like you’re telling us today? Is that how you’re going to fund the war? You don’t have money to fund the war or children. But you’re going to spend it to blow up innocent people if we can get enough kids to grow old enough for you to send to Iraq to get their heads blown off for the president’s amusement.”

I’ll save my commentary for something worth commenting on. I’ll just leave you with this video of Fortney Pete Stark’s aruption:

Of Course It Isn’t Harmful

Friday, September 28th, 2007

That’s the sarcastic answer I’d give Nancy Pelosi after reading her latest foolish quote. Here’s what the uproar is about:

A controversial advertisement for a San Francisco festival that depicts the Last Supper as a sadomasochism party falls within the First Amendment and is not harmful to Christianity, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) said Friday.

The ad for the Folsom Street Fair, to be held in Pelosi’s district on Sunday and which is partly funded by San Francisco’s Grants for the Arts program, which is funded by the city’s hotel tax, sparked outrage from Christian groups because it mirrors Leonardo Da Vinci’s famous painting of “The Last Supper” but replaces Jesus and his apostles with scantily leather-clad men and women sitting at a table adorned with sex toys.

It’s insulting to think that Ms. Pelosi would try spinning such a disgusting thing this way. QUESTION: Why do Democrats automatically resort to “It’s a First Amendment issue” every time one of their perverts starts spewing this type of disgusting stuff? We know that people have the right to say this type of stuff. It isn’t about the First Amendment in the sense that it’s a matter of public decency. (more…)

Money to Burn: New S.F. health plan attracting members fast

Wednesday, August 15th, 2007

Alternate headline: Hand-outs typically get a run-on.

Business Times reports (Reg. req’d): “San Francisco’s novel health plan for the uninsured is attracting members at a fast pace, city officials said Tuesday.”

Mayor Gavin Newsom said 1,000 people have signed up for the Healthy San Francisco program since it was unveiled July 2.

“Community response to the program has exceeded our expectations and underscores why Healthy San Francisco is needed,” said Newsom.

In the famous words of Sgt. Gomer Pyle: “Well, suhprise, suhprise, suhrpise!” Mayor Newsom should also mention his open invitation to illegal aliens. They must sure appreciate his liberal generosity, using other people’s money.

Free healthcare, paid for by taxpayers — who don’t qualify for the benefit themselves. That’s one helluva program.

The Healthy San Francisco program - originally called the San Francisco Health Access Program - is designed to cover as many as 82,000 San Franciscans who don’t have health coverage through work or elsewhere. The program is accepting enrollees at two clinics in Chinatown. A broader roll out among hospitals and clinics is expected over the next two years.

The program is expected to cost as much as $200 million annually, funded with taxpayer money, member co-payments and mandatory business contributions totaling about $30 million annually.

Quick math: $200MM/82,000 = $2,440/per person/annually.

Now, let’s say we’re just talking about only needing a checkup, basic yearly physical. Throw in dentist and optometrist visit. What does that come to? $300/per visit = $900. Let’s round it up to $1000. That leaves $1,400+ being applied elsewhere. Where? More bureaucracy.

Healthy San Francisco is administered by the San Francisco Department of Public Health and the San Francisco Health Plan.

Whether federal, state or local, when does government ever do a good job of efficiently managing money and organization? Stand in line at the post office and think about it…

In San Francisco, maybe they’ll do the same great job they’re doing by giving away free needles to drug addicts, another popular program.

But instead of finding dirty needles in playgrounds, perhaps parents will find money to burn.
