Media Update: Euphoric Reality Version

Last night, I got a call from Kit Lange from Euphoric Reality, asking if I was available to talk about John Murtha and all things Haditha on her BTR show titled “The Front Line”. I asked what night she wanted me on as a guest and she said “Is 45 minutes from now ok?” I assured her that anytime I could expose John Murtha’s irresponsible accusations was an opportunity I wouldn’t pass up.

Suffice it to say that the hour flew past. Tim Harrington was the star attraction as he walked people through the various Article 32 hearings as well as pointing out the injustices being done by the system. For those of you who haven’t listened to Tim talk about the JAG Corps, NCIS, the Pendleton 8 and Haditha Marines, you’ve missed out on a huge amount of information. If you have heard him talking about these subjects, then you’re likely to have your blood boiling.

I want to thank Kit for allowing me valuable air time to talk about the corruption machine known as John Murtha. I was able to highlight the inconsistencies (aka lies) in Murtha’s statements. I was essentially relying on the information from this post.

The highlight of the program for me came from a caller who asked what we can do about exposing Rep. Murtha. Suffice it to say that I hammered that like Justin Morneau hammered that homerun to straight away center field last night. I said that we should look to what We The People did when the ‘Grand Bargain’ was being debated. I reminded him that people thought it’d pass, that it was a foregone conclusion. That was before we filled every senator’s email inboxes and melted down their switchboard. I said that that’s the type of pressure we need to put that type of pressure on Congress.

I also said that we need to flood the airwaves from border to border with this information. I also said that it’s time for activists to start informing the people about what’s happened thus far. We can’t rally people if they don’t know that these injustices exist. We know that the Agenda Media won’t cover it so that puts the responsibility squarely on activists’ shoulders.

The other thing that we should keep in mind is that the Sharratt family don’t have anyone to turn to in Congress because their congressman is John Murtha. It’s not like he’ll help them. Simply put, he won’t. He’s bent on ruining Justin Sharratt’s life. That’s why I’m asking this blog’s readers to (a) keep Darryl, Theresa and Justin Sharratt in your prayers and (b) ramp up the pressure on Democrats, especially on John Murtha. It’s time that they learned about We The People give them power, not vice versa.

Kit, Thanks for giving me the platform to attack John Murtha’s corruption machine. He certainly deserves it.

State of the Art

According to this article, Fred Thompson’s website ImWithFred.com is a new step in using the internet as a campaign tool. I totally agree.

His organization has opted for a slightly different approach to the Web. Thompson’s website doesn’t have the dizzying array of content blocks the other candidates we mentioned have posted. His main content section is a blog, kept up to date by an administrator at times when the candidate himself isn’t posting.

The important concept Thompson’s people seem to get is the need to have their supporters engage traditional media. His site features specific links to encourage people to write to newspaper editors or call talk radio. Those two sections allow the visitor to pick a state followed by a media market. A results page shows the options available for contacting the media outlet of choice.

It’s universally acknowledged that JFK started ‘the TV Age’ of presidential campaigning. While TV is still an important tool in today’s presidential campaigns, Fred Thompson has started the first true omnimedia presidential campaign. He’s hitting all the radio and TV talk shows. He’s written op-eds for NRO. He’s got his own blog at his ImWithFred website and he’s posted at RedState. He’s used YouTube and other similar types of media to ridicule Michael Moore and to ‘air’ his interview with Peter Robinson.

In other words, he’s taken the internet seriously. In the ‘good old days’ of the 2000 election cycle, the buzz was about whether the candidates had their own websites and how this ‘new’ phenomenon would affect future campaigns. Eight years and a lifetime later, Fred Thompson’s media operations model is light years different . The result? He’s using YouTube and his blog to have a conversation with the American people. “I Quoted Him ‘Fair’ and ‘Accurately’ “

So says Arkansas Democrat-Gazette Religion Editor Frank Lockwood, the man who interviewed Jimmy Carter. Here’s some insight into the interview that started the debacle:

The proof, he says, is in audio posted on the Democrat-Gazette Web site http://www2.arkansasonline.com/news/2007/may/19/carter-calls-bush-administration-worst-ever/ and his own blog, http://www.biblebeltblog.com/.

“I think the president’s words speak for themselves,” Lockwood told E&P. “He’s accurately quoted, he’s quoted in context, and it’s fair.”

Lockwood’s story in Saturday’s Democrat-Gazette quoted Carter as saying: “I think as far as the adverse impact on the nation around the world, this administration has been the worst in history.

There you have it. It sounds pretty straightforward to me, which is what I said in this post. Despite Carter’s attempts to spin this episode on the Today Show, the statements speak for themselves. (continue reading post »)

Interview: Gina Elise of Pin Ups for Vets

If you’ve never heard of Gina Elise and her project Pin Ups for Vets prepare to become very informed and amazed. Gina Elise is a 24-year-old who majored in theater at UCLA. It’s not often that someone of Gina’s age gets interested in helping people. It’s even less often that someone from the state of California actively supports veterans and our troops like she does. Gina Elise is not your ordinary California girl, college graduate and with her Pin Ups for Vets calendars, specifically designed for troops and veterans, she is supporting the troops overseas, downrange, and veterans recovering here at home.

Gina Elise of Pin Ups for Vets

A year ago Gina Elise decided to take her, “love for retro and do something to help injured soldiers at the same time.” Gina told me that the inspiration for Pin Ups for Vets is, “The stories I hear about injured soldiers returning home from overseas really has a huge effect on me. Their lives have changed forever because of these injuries — because they served our country. The motivation and energy they have is inspiring to me. I want to do something for them.”

Gina Elise is supported by American Legion Post 360 in Lake Arrowhead, CA and makes calendars that she models in; the proceeds from which go to VA programs such as eyeglasses for Veterans, the home health program, recreational therapy, spinal cord injury & amputee programs, substance abuse program, women’s Veterans’ program, homeless program, reading materials and subscriptions for the Veterans, social relief fund, televisions, wheelchairs, and outreach programs for the visually impaired. She poses for each month in a World War II kind of retro look because Gina says she is a, “HUGE fan of all things retro. I’ve been a performer my entire life — love costumes, anything from another time period.” I’m just glad she decided to grace our time period with her looks (she’s a looker, ain’t she, fellas), grace, and caring nature.

Radical Islamic Agenda Exposed

We now have proof that radical Islam’s indoctrination knows no bounds thanks to this article. Here’s the shocking admission:

The principal of an Islamic school has admitted that it uses textbooks which describe Jews as “apes” and Christians as “pigs” and has refused to withdraw them. Dr Sumaya Alyusuf confirmed that the offending books exist after former teacher Colin Cook, 57, alleged that children as young as five are taught from racist materials at the King Fahd Academy in Acton. In an interview on BBC2’s Newsnight, Dr Alyusuf was asked by Jeremy Paxman whether she recognised the books.
She said: “Yes, I do recognise these books, of course. We have these books in our school. These books have good chapters that can be used by the teachers. It depends on the objectives the teacher wants to achieve.”

It’s common knowledge that the Saudis supply this type of textbook to madrassas all across the Middle East. This article is the first I’ve read that talks about this type of textbook being used in Western Europe. What’s most unnerving are that the principal readily admits that they’re using this type of textbook and that they won’t withdraw them from the classroom.

These books should be banned from every civilized nation because of their hateful nature. This nonsense that “these books have good chapters that can be used by the teachers” is this principal’s public rationalization. Their real goal is to keep indoctrinating children with these books. That should stop ASAP. If these madrassas refuse to get rid of these books, then law enforcement should confiscate the books. (continue reading post »)

Lynne Cheney: Sandbagged by Wolf Blitzer

Lynne Cheney walked into the belly of the beast - CNN - this week to talk about her new children’s book, “Our 50 States”. Wolf Blitzer, knowing that she was coming to talk about her book, decided he would ambush her with loaded questions about the War on Terrorism, the current elections and Iraq in an aggressive adversarial tone.

Mrs. Cheney gave back as good as she got. I thought it was great how, even though she expected the interview to be about her book, she was prepared for Blitzer’s outrageous and partisan onslaught.

Here is an excerpt:

LC: But what is CNN doing running terrorist tape of terrorists shooting Americans? I mean, I thought Duncan Hunter asked you a very good question, and you didn’t answer it. Do you want us to win?

WB: The answer, of course, is we want the United States to win. We are Americans. There’s no doubt about that. You think we want terrorists to win?

LC: Then why are you running terrorist propaganda?

WB: With all due respect, with all due respect, this is not terrorist propaganda.

LC: Oh, Wolf…

WB: This is reporting the news, which is what we do. We’re not partisan…

LC: Where did you get the film?

WB: We got the film…look, this is an issue that has been widely discussed, this is an issue that we reported on extensively. We make no apologies for showing that. That was a very carefully considered decision, why we did that. And I think, and I think, of your…

LC: Well, I think it’s shocking.

WB: If you’re a serious journalist, you want to report the news. Sometimes the news is good, sometimes the news isn’t so good.

LC: But Wolf, there’s a difference between news and terrorist propaganda. Why did you give the terrorists a forum?

WB: And if you put it in context, if you put it in context, that’s what news is. We said it was propaganda. We didn’t distort where we got it. We didn’t distort anything about it. We gave it the context. Let’s talk about another issue in the news, and then we’ll get to the book.

If you notice, he first says it isn’t propaganda, and then he admits it is.

You can read the whole transcript here, and you can see a portion of the interview in video here.

Exclusive Interview: Hiram Lewis

Hiram Lewis is a Republican running for Senator in West Virginia. He is facing a primary battle, and if he wins, he will be facing Senator Robert C. Byrd in the 2006 Election. Hiram Lewis served in Iraq, went to Louisiana following Hurricane Katrina, and has given up years of his life serving our nation. This is my exclusive interview with Hiram Lewis.

Q: First off, Mr. Lewis, thank you for taking the time to answer my questions, and thank you for your service to America on the battlefields of Iraq. My first question is a basic one. Why do you think it’s important that the people of West Virginia choose you to be the Republican candidate, and elect you in 2006?

I am the only candidate for US Senate with real experience in the most important issue of the day, homeland security and national defense. During my senior year at WVU, I watched our soldiers being drug through the streets of Mogadishu. Wanting to do my part, I volunteered to serve as an airborne/ranger with 3d Ranger Battalion, the same battalion that lost 16 Rangers in Somalia. After my three-year commitment, I returned to WVU for law school and graduated in 2001.

After witnessing the tragic events of 9/11 on television and hearing the President’s call to service, I volunteered for service in the West Virginia Army National Guard. In March 2003, I deployed with my unit, the 111th Engineer Group, and participated in Operation Iraqi Freedom as a Captain and JAG officer. After returning from the Gulf, I ran for Attorney General and came within eight tenths of one percent from winning the election. Currently, I am a Captain, JAG officer, and Command Judge Advocate for the 111th Engineer Group. Also, I am the Staff Judge Advocate for the Homeland Security (CERF) response force for the state of West Virginia.

During my time with the West Virginia National Guard, I was also involved with the Northern Panhandle flood in 2004 caused by hurricane Ivan and I was deployed for over a month to New Orleans for the Hurricane Katrina clean-up operations. My experience in the regular Army and the Guard has provided me with a unique, soldier-level perspective on the complicated issues involved in homeland security and national defense. I am also the only candidate willing to commit the rest of my life to changing West Virginia for the better.

CaliforniaConservative.org On The Radio

Radio MicrophoneHere’s a shout out and thanks to Jeff Lynch & Mike Howard for inviting me to join their radio program.

Topic of discussion: “Portgate” — The ongoing controversy regarding major American ports being managed by a company that’s owned by the UAE. Since there’s plenty of criticism against it, I decided to stand by my earlier position.

It was great chatting with both of them, and our engaging conversation covered more area than we anticipated. Such is the fun of politics, there’s always something to talk about and every point leads to another.

You can listen to the pre-recorded broadcast of the Jeff & Mike Show coming from beautiful San Diego, CA this Sunday (and every Sunday) from 6pm-10pm on RantRadio.

Looking forward to being on the show again sometime, especially when they have other guests. (Damn!)

Media Update

I’d like to thank Lores Rizkalla for inviting me on her Just a Woman radio show Sunday night to talk about the Dubai Ports World fiasco. Lores was a most gracious host and I thoroughly enjoyed getting interviewed by Lores. Follow this link to listen to the interview. I was on for two segments so they’re broken down into two parts.

As I listened to the first hour’s callers, it was obvious that most of the callers were strongly opposed to the deal. I’m glad that I listened to these callers because most, though not all, of their worries were legitimate worries. Because I’d researched these issues this past week, I think I helped bring a comfort level to more of the listeners.

One thing that Lores and I strongly agreed on is that the Bush Administration did a miserable job handling this story. As I told Lores in an email this afternoon, what’s most frustrating to me is that this issue wouldn’t be such a wide split (Last I’d heard, it was a 62-17 split) had the Bush communications team done a better job of educating people as quickly as possible.

One other thing that became apparent during the interview is that Lores’ interviewing style was far less confrontational than the WH press corps, which I think is a far better interviewing technique.

I strongly recommend that everyone make time to listen to Lores’ show. You won’t be disappointed. (Follow this link to listen to the live audio stream.)

Gary Gross Hits The Airwaves

Radio MicrophonePublisher’s Note: Tonight, our Contributing Editor Gary Gross will be interviewed by Lores Rizkalla to discuss homeland security issues, notably the ongoing ports controversy.

Topic: Homeland Security or Racial Profiling?

Our readers know that we’ve covered this story quite actively. In fact, we were one of the first bloggers to come out swinging against the deal, but we have since changed our opinion. And that’s where we stand.

Gary has also written much on the subject and remained objective throughout the debate. Tonight you can hear his latest perspective.

He’ll be appearing on NewsTalk 870 KRLA and you can listen live here.
