Doolittle is Trying to Protect Sacramento from A New Orleans-Type Disaster
Wednesday, December 14th, 2005For those of you reading this post, it will seem regional to the Sacramento, California Area… but these things matter in the grand Scheme of things as Congressman John Doolittle has been under attack for straw man stuff like his “ties” to Abramoff… Congressman Doolittle is an excellent Conservative who is and has done a lot of good stuff for America.
This post is important to the Entire State of California as we don’t want to see our state Capitol under water.

Did you know that Sacramento is the only major metropolitan area without 100-year flood protection?
This is not a question of environmental issues, it is a question of responsible government protecting the people. It is not a question of building in flood planes, either. There is limited land, so you have to use what you’ve got. This means if people want to live in Sacramento, then it is government’s responsibility to accomodate them.
Two of the core principles of America is the freedom to live where you want and the freedom of movement.
This article points out that Improving Folsom Dam would at best elevate protection to the 200-year level. The Auburn Dam would take Sacramento to the 500-year level. This is what we need…
Once again our Congressman is on the right side of another important issue to those of us in the Sacramento Area.
