Voting In Silicon Valley
The June 6 primary election is upon us. Since voter turnout in primaries is typically low*, each vote has great weight. The Santa Clara County Republican Committee has voted for:
- San Jose City Council–Pete Constant. We have an excellent chance to elect Pete if we can get out the vote on June 6th.
- Measure A — NO This dishonest attempt at raising the sales tax in Santa Clara County to 8.75% deserves a resounding NO vote.
- Proposition 82 — NO This is such bad public policy that both GOP and Democratic leaders oppose it.
In addition, as Chairman of the Santa Clara Count Republican Party, I recommend a NO vote on the following Measures:
- Proposition 81 — NO (Public Library Bond)
- Measure B — NO (Fixed General Fund Transfer for Parks)
- Measure C — NO (Foothill-DeAnza College Bond)
Republican voters can have a real impact in a low turnout election, so I urge you to turn in your absentee ballot immediately or cast your ballot at the polls today. Your vote matters.
Restoring Balance to City Hall
by Pete Constant
In life, many events occur simply to maintain the balance of nature. No matter what disturbances may influence nature, nature always seeks to return to equilibrium. In physics, balance is possible only when a body is stable, that is, with equal forces influencing it from opposing sides. In economics, financial markets work best when they have achieved equilibrium.
In comparison, consider the state of our current San José City Council. It doesn’t take a rocket scientist to see that our local governing body in San José is woefully out of balance.
