Tony Strickland Gets A Major Endorsement for his Controller Run

This post is to inform all of you as to the real Republican candidate for Controller in 2006.

Tony Strickland is our choice for controller and please lift the button off of my blog. Enough said.

Tony has been endorsed by Bill Simon as well as almost all of the Republican Caucus in the state legislature…

(Press Release, Los Angeles) – Today, former GOP gubernatorial candidate Bill Simon announced his support for Tony Strickland for Controller, joining the growing list of GOP elected officials and party leaders supporting Strickland.

“Tony Strickland is an impressive candidate who understands the negative impact that runaway government spending and high taxes have on California’s business climate,” said Bill Simon. “When he was in the legislature, Strickland was a leader in analyzing the budget and setting Republican legislative policy. As Controller, Tony Strickland will continue his effort to audit state government and root out waste and inefficiency.”

“Tony Strickland will stand firm on behalf of California’s taxpayers, and that’s why I support him,” concluded Simon.

A frequent guest on national and local broadcast news shows, Bill Simon is one of the most recognized Republicans in California.

“Bill Simon’s support adds a tremendous amount of momentum to Tony’s effort,” said campaign spokesman Chris Wangsaporn. “Tony’s longstanding commitment to lower taxes and more efficient government has earned him the trust and respect of Republican Party leaders. That’s why our party continues to unify around his candidacy.”

Simon’s support follows a powerful and convincing display of GOP legislative support, where 25 of the 32 California GOP Assembly Members, including Assembly GOP Leader Kevin McCarthy, announced their pre-primary endorsement of Tony Strickland for Controller.

Strickland, who was first elected to the State Assembly in 1998, served as Republican Caucus Chairman during much of his legislative tenure, where he helped lead the GOP effort in the lower house. Since leaving the legislature, Tony has helped found the California Club for Growth, the state arm of the national donor group whose goal is to promote policies that aid small businesses and job creation.
