Off The Job, On The March

Immigrant Rally in S.F.: viva mexico!
S.F. Chronicle reports:

“Several thousand immigrant rights supporters marched up Market Street this afternoon and converged on Civic Center Plaza, where they sprawled on the grass listening to speakers and eating brown-bag lunches in order to avoid buying anything as part of today’s “Day Without Immigrants” demonstrations that are happening all across the country.

This is not a movement of politicians, but of human beings — and that’s why it will be successful,” said Matt Gonzalez, a former president of the San Francisco Board of Supervisors. “The laws of this country will not change unless we stay united.”

Huh? Put down the peace pipe, Matt. You’re not making sense.

Let’s put it the right way: The laws of this country must change in order for us to stay united.

Rigoberto Lopez, 33, of Oakland had taken the day off from his job as a sheetrock installer.

“I’m just supporting my people,” he said. “All my people all took the day off.”

Guess it’s safe to say that “our people” were still busy working today. And America is still standing strong.

California is home to the largest number of undocumented immigrants in the United States — 2.4 million, or about 7 percent of the state’s population. California is home to about one-quarter of the nation’s immigrants.

Well, then, no wonder…

House majority leader John Boehner, R-Ohio, denounced a resolution passed last week by the California State Senate endorsing the boycott, and challenged House minority leader Nancy Pelosi to do the same.

“The brazen support of California Democrats for this walkout amounts to a reckless endorsement of policies that make our nation and our borders less secure. Nancy Pelosi and her Capitol Hill Democrats should explain to the American public whether they support California’s Democrat leaders who defied their oath to uphold the laws of the land. If Nancy Pelosi cannot bring herself to denounce this stunt, it will serve as yet another signal of Democrats’ support for open borders, weak enforcement, and more illegal immigration.”

It’s all about votes. Viva Mexico!

    How sad for you.

After reading California Conservative for a while now, I was expecting today’s diatribe, mean-spirited postings, fact-distortions and outright lies and misrepresentations. I thought I’d probably be upset with what I was going to read, but to my surprise, I feel pity.

Pity because history has taught you nothing. Pity because your understanding of the issues is so shallow and dogmatic. Pity because you are without compasion. You all but out-and-out call them dirty, lazy Mexicans.

The truth of the matter is that the vast majority of immigrants –legal and illegal– are hard working, honest, and just trying to make a better life for themselves and their children. You link to Tancredo’s screed, full of half-truths, clever manipulations of facts and figures, and which ignores one very basic fact: we’re talking about human beings.

Which part of “Compassionate Conservative” don’t you get? Wait, don’t tell me. I think I know.

  3. California Conservative Says:

Funny. Especially since 95% of this post comes from the Chronicle. Just reporting the facts, right.

But where’s the link to Tancredo? Please point it out and share with our audience.

And thanks for your continued readership.

Or, as El Presidente puts it, in beginning of his speech for the new cartoon, “Our First Mexican President,”…..

“Okay, folks, let’s try this in (heh-heh) English. Look, I know what you’re feeling. You feel the good old USA is being invaded and occupied by a country with a government so rotten, so corrupt and so half-assed that it must dump its own people on us illegally………. Hey, the elite feel your pain. They’re not all globoloco (heh-heh)….”

Human beings who do not belong in this country.

Hey “stop bush”. Quit projecting your bigotry and hate onto other people. There is not one word on this post that is racist.Pointing out democrats that refuse to honor their oath to uphold the laws of our land was clearly the point.Oh and by the way please point out what it is that you claim to be lies and misrepersentations.

I grew up in California and have spent a big part of my life in Texas, so I am pretty familiar with Mexican immigrants.

I know one thing: For the past 40 or 50 years no one, Democrat or Republican, has really tried to stop illegal immigration from Mexico.

Congressional Republicans can get all tough and stuff, you know, and threaten to charge Pedro with a felony for being here and charge me with a felony for hiring Pedro to mow my lawn, but when it gets right down to it the power in the Republican Party doesn’t want all that cheap labor deported. No way. It’s all for show. You can’t see that? If you want to buy into it, go ahead.

All I know is Republicans have been persona non grata in California ever since they got everybody fired up and passed Prop 187. It didn’t stop illegal immigration but it sure boosted the re-election efforts of Pete Wilson.

[...] Wow! 12 million ILLEGAL aliens in America — they ALL work, they ALL pay taxes (even when they ALL get paid in cash), and they ALL stay out of crime. Amazing. Some journalists, even in the heat of passion to make a point, would use a soft term like “most” or “the majority of” to sell the exaggeration better. But not this one. [...]
