Let Tookie Williams Die
TOOKIE WILLIAMS WROTE JUVENILE LITERATURE SO INSPIRING, IT’S A PITY HIS VICTIMS NEVER GOT TO READ IT TO THEIR CHILDREN.
Such is the observation of Ben Johnson at FrontPagemag.
Last night, the California State Supreme Court refused to grant a stay of execution to convicted murderer and co-founder of the deadly street gang the Crips, Stanley “Tookie†Williams Sr. Short of a governor’s pardon, Tookie will (finally) die by lethal injection in San Quentin on December 13 for the brutal murder of four people in 1979. A group of Hollywood’s limousine “liberals,†radical leftists, and Farrakhanites now urge Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger (whom they otherwise despise) to grant clemency – and he has granted them a private hearing next week to discuss the matter. We wish he’d instead offer them front row seats to the blessed event.
Debra J. Saunders also weighs in on “Tookie’s tales.”

I just emailed your Governor to protest the clemency hearing. How about the California bloggers get an email campaign going to counteract the Hollywood loonies? I live in Texas, but I feel that this isn’t just a California issue. This man deserves to die, a jury of his peers said so. He is reponsible for a whole lot of misery, not just in California. I live in an inner-city neighbourhood that is plagued by gangs and we are under siege. Thanks Tookie, you filthy piece of slime. If it wasn’t such a horrible thought, I would invite any one of those twitchy Hollywood Liberals to spend a week at my house just to see the legacy of Tookie.

Tookie is one of America’s worst criminals… ever. His negative impact on this country is just immense.

I am appauled at all this nonsense with Tookie Williams. I want to know how he gets all this access to phones and such for interviews, i want to know how he has been able to profit in jail. He read stories to some kids at a school via phone this week. If my child was in that class i would sueing. He is a cold blooded murderer. If California executed its prisoners in a timely fashion this wouldnt be happening. I am sorry 25 yrs on Death Row is a joke. I understand an automatic appeal on a death sentence. Then maybe 3 more to make sure all courts are involved but then thats it. I like how Texas does it for the most part, convicted, sentenced and then you dont spend 25 yrs on Death row you actually get your sentence carried out. These hollywood freaks need to stick to what they do and that is act and most of them arent even any good at that. I dont see them defending Scott Peterson since they say there was no DNA evidence to prove Tookie did it hell there was no evidence at all in Scotts case but i dont see them all defending him. Its disgusting and makes me ashamed to be from California.

Jodi,
Thanks for your comments. Unfortunately, we often find ourselves “ashamed to be from California.” And that’s why we’re here — hoping to change that.
Spread the word…

Why isn’t this stain on society dead yet? And all these snivelling goody-goody actors who want to be socially responsible….give me a break!!!! Not one of these clowns walks the same streets that this killer helped to build. Let him die, and die knowing that while God may forgive him, he must still atone for his sins. I have heard people threaten that L.A will burn if this killer dies. Go ahead and try it, and I hope the good people of L.A. and the Governor shoot you down like the vermin that you are.

dianainsa,
Your comments are powerful and your story is revealing. Thank you for sharing.
Most politicians and celebrities are insulated from reality, and thus they support foolish causes and make bad decisions. Thus, the public needs to remind them.
It’s a good idea about the petition. Stay tuned.

What is the point in keeping him alive?

I wonder if these celebrities would start defending Osama bin Laden.

How many deathrow inmates have accomplished what this man has. Instead if giving up on life, this man has made a 360 degree turnaround and have influenced our youth NOT TO JOIN GANGS. For this Stanley Tookie William should not be sent to dead. If he is sent to dead, this dosen’t give a positve look on life for those who are struggling to make the same change Tookie has.

OH Yeah, Judy from Palmdale; Move to Texas & keep your ignorant statements to yourself.
December 2nd, 2005 at 3:35 pm
Tiffany,
It appears that you must be a liberal. Namely, you resort to personal attack and don’t value free speech. You write: “Keep your ignorant statements to yourself.” Perhaps you can follow your own advice.
First of all, if Tookie “made a 360 degree turn,” that means he’s arrived back to where he was first standing. Which is pretty much the case.
He has neither admitted nor apologized for the murders, despite the overwhelming evidence. But let’s leave the facts aside, as you like to do.
If he’s such a great guy, as you suggest, than why, over the last 25 years, has he refused to help law enforcement by providing inside information to the Crips? That would really be making a difference. (Instead, he merely says he doesn’t want to be a snitch)
Furthermore, since this story is being framed as a “race issue,” let’s use a race anology.
Since many black activists (Jesse et al) believe whites should be held accountable for the actions of their forefathers (i.e. slavery), than Tookie should be held accountable for all the murders, rapes and other crimes commited by the Crips which he founded in the 70s. The logic is the same.
Finally, “If he is sent to dead” as you write (past tense yours), than he’ll represent the message that the law really does mean something. Which does more good than a multiple murderer writing childrens books. But maybe you can ask Charles Manson if he’d like to pick up the slack.
Speaking of, Manson is another filthy animal that should’ve been fried years ago. Too bad we can’t make it a double-feature.

your comments are quite entertaining. First off 360 degress would put him right back where he is a murderer. Also if he really has refromed like Conservative stated he would help the police to arrest other crips and criminals. Also i want to see the stats you have about the gang numbers. From everything i have seen gang membership is up not down so i do not see Tookie ’s books as doing anything besides i would never let my son read a Murderers book. The money he received should have gone to the victims families. And any money he gets from his interviews and you know he is making money should be going to the Victims families. I hope Arnold listens to the people and not the Anti everything crowd and denies Clemency. This man deserves to die for his crimes even if now he is a model citizen on death row. The law and jury trials must stand for something and as a deterant for other criminals hopefully.

I’d be against the death penalty IF:
1. Tookie and other lifers got 18/7/365 at hard labor in desert tents far from humanity.
2. Meals depended upon labor performance.
3. First aid only
4. No parole
5. Live video feeds for pre-delinquents
6. Protesters could only protest within three miles of inmates (violations would require one month helping parolees to break rocks)
7. No chance of goofy nominations for nobel (little n) prizes
If not, bye bye tookie.

Amazing! I just responded to the poll and see that overwelmingly the respondents have voted for clemency! Hmmm I guess a Conservative in California still sounds like a left wing liberal. Yooooo Hoooooo, you guys out there on the left coast, Martin Sheen is NOT the President! I know you all have a problem understanding that some time. Geeeeeeeezzzzzzzzz!!!!!!!

This arch-fiend Stanley Tookie Williams, an unrepentant convicted murderer, co-founded the Crips, one of the worst criminal enterprises in the USA, which has metastasized into satellite operations into other metropolitan regions. Speaking more personally, I grew up in South Central Los Angeles and we were terrorized by the Crips and otehr gangs, i.e., the Bloods, etc. As non-gangbanger teen males, interested in academics and athletics, we could not venture blithely by foot or vehicle anywhere without fearing some bloodthirsty jerk asking us where we were from, or taking a bike or jacket. I had cousins and classmates murdered by the people that Williams recruited, enabled, befriended and armed. For his own depraved acts alone, however, he deserves capital punishment but for the malign forces he gleefully unleashed on LA and the rest of the nation, he should burn literally(on earth) and metaphysically(in Hell) and his memory should be one of infamy, disdain, condemnation and acrimony –not Nobel Prizes, protest marches in his favor and clemency hearings by the Governor of California.
If Arnold Schwarzenegger grants clemency to this evil bastard, the Governator’s career should also end. Is it worth it, Arnold?
December 5th, 2005 at 3:53 pm
This man has been convicted and sentenced by his peers. The people he killed will never breath again and neither should he..HE MUST DIE>I voted for our governor I would like to again..NO CLEMENCY..PLEASE
December 5th, 2005 at 5:05 pm
Kipling he’s not!!
In order for a bastardized cause to achieve any level of legitimacy; obfuscation of the truth must occur. Media duplicity is necessary to feign a benign appearance, giving credence to the cause. Thus, Rodney becomes a “motorist”, Najee, the “community activist”/”project director”, Snoop an “artist” and of course, Tokie, “author” and “Nobel nominee”, et al..ad nauseam; their commonality having long since been obscured via the semantic shuffle.

I briefly read the LA prosecutor’s letter denying plea for clemency. The part that struck me most, was, Tookie did not want to debrief. He did not want to inform the government of the workings of the gang group. In ordinary parlance, he did not want to snitch on his former pals.
If he was prepared to debrief, denying death by state execution and enabling him to debrief the government of the gang, might have been a good reason to give clemency to enable him to really do good work on the debriefing.
While I sympathise with the loss of lifes, for which he was charged and convicted and probably more lifes affected adversely by the gang he co-founded; whether he recanted or not becomes a non issue if he agreed to debrief and showed concrete signs of providing invaluable debrief.
How does one ensure it would be a good debrief? It has to be before clemency is granted. As after, and if he does not give good invaluable debrief, it would be not possible to reverse the clemency. It cannot be a conditional clemency conditional on invaluable inputs of a good and reliable debrief.
As he has not agreed to debrief, the issue of clemency is easily settled for NO clemency.
Had he agreed to debrief and had he provided really invaluable debriefing, clemency could have been practically and pragmatically considered for invaluable input which could not have been otherwise obtained easily except from a real insider.
On the other hand, had he debriefed and really provided invaluable information, that is, he is seen by his previous gang and others to have snitched; his life could be at stake, at risk, of gang members, whether outside his prison wall or inside his prison wall. Debriefing would cost him his life, as it could be a price exacted for snitching. It could also cost his family’s members life or close friends’ life. He would have risked a lot to debrief and had he provided real debrief, a clemency plea should in those circumstances be granted, well knowing that with his snitching, his days could already be numbered. Yet he did it for the greater good of society. Before the allowing of clemency, a fair report would have been made of the debriefing information by the best and most appropriate authorities and whether it is really invaluable input, and whether it really makes our society safer and protects vulnerable youths from street and gang life. If the report affirms the true and real value of the debriefing which really helps all those areas, then, a plea for clemency could be supported. If the report says the debriefing was nominal and did not provided any new invaluable helpful information that the authorities do not already know or could not have in the course of the routine investigation obtained it by themselves, then a plea for clemency should not be considered.
All other issues, like “against death penaltyâ€Â, authoring or co-authoring children’s book against gang life, etc are side shows, thrilling but of no substance to this plea for clemency.
December 8th, 2005 at 4:05 pm
He deserves to die, a death a 1000 times worse than what he is supposed to get. He is no different that Ted Bundy or Charles Manson. He writes a children’s book and now he is remorse.
He created a major disease in this country and needs to pay for it. i am tired of my tax dollars keeping another worthless killer alive.
December 9th, 2005 at 2:03 pm
Tookus needs to fry like chicken and pork rinds.
December 12th, 2005 at 12:14 pm
He refuses to be debriefed for fear for his life or that of family. Then let him die. He will be remembered for that.
December 12th, 2005 at 2:04 pm
My only complaint with the ‘Should Tookie Williams Die?’ poll was that there wasn’t a ‘HELL YES!’ option.
How can anyone in their right mind honestly believe that a quadruple murderer (and frankly, the figure is believed to be much higher) should effectively be made a ward of the State by having his sentence commuted to life in prison?
Oh, wait, I forgot: what gives us the right to decide whether this (or any other) man lives or dies? Let’s ask his victims; they probably have something to say about this. Ooops, we can’t.
I don’t want it on my conscience that my taxes are going to keep the waste of flesh that Tookie Williams is alive.
December 12th, 2005 at 4:55 pm
This man deserves to die. I had a cousin that was almost killed by a Black man. My dad was almost killed by a Black man. My sixth grade life was crippled by a Black man. My uncle’s friend was shot three times in the forehead by a Black man. I was beaten by a Black man just for being an Asian man. My mother was always insulted by group of Black gangsters. My fourteen dollars money was robbed by my supposed “Black friend”. And now this filthy scumbag Black man named Tookie kills three Asian men and a White man on a robbery and claims his innocence. This is sick. This is sick. James Fox and Snoop Dogg, both Black, supports Tookies’ clemency because he is Black. This is sick. Kill this bastard for good. I’m sick of hearing Black people saying “it’s racist” excuse to trying to put themselves up. Black people lag behind not because they are Black but because of their inner stupidity and lack of remorse for human life. Black people would always go down in history as a Black man who has been committing as a ganster life by stealing, raping, and killing innonce of others.

Who are we to kill anybody? Only god can give life and take it away.I am not supporting any crimes but I will not support the death penalty. Once someone dies on death penalty for the crimes that they commited what does that make us the same as them. One man cannot carry the burden of the whole formation of the street gangs.

Vanessa,
Thanks for your religious and righteous commentary.
Only god can give life and take it away.
Please tell that to the victims of Mr. Williams, RIP.
And, while you’re at it, read the Old Testament. Many do.

Once again like I said I am not supporting any of his crimes but none of you can blame his crimes on the black race that is ludicrous. We are no better than him when we killed him. That does not make it right by us killing him it will not bring his victims back. No sin is greater than another in gods eyes they are all equal
