Even if they were, has anyone lately read how territorial the "natives" were/are? And if they aren't natives, then aren't they interlopers, too, who have no right to the land under any conditions? I get tired of saying it, but here it goes, one more time: there was a war (instigated as much by the Mexicans as by the United States), we won, they lost, get over it. Assume the labor component of that $1 is an absurdly generous $.50 and it jumps up to $4.50 per head of lettuce. These greedy dorks running agribiz are seriously telling us that are forced to pay people $4.50 for every single head of lettuce they pick off the ground. How much money is that per hour? If McCain plays this right, he can come out of this picking up Hispanic votes. But at the same time if no version of amnesty passes, this won't be held against him all that much.
