Clark Baker for Assembly — Update

Dear Friends:

The weeks are flying by with speaking engagements, luncheons, campaign reporting, web site creation, meetings, and so forth. Of the things I’ve learned so far, nothing is more important than getting an early start. Had I known I would be running for Assembly this year, I would have started twelve months ago!

That said, I’m committed to giving this effort everything that I have. Public service is not new to me – I’ve been serving Americans and Angelenos since 1975. I seek this post because my friends and I are tired watching our taxes rise while our roads, schools, and public safety erode under the current leadership. Left-wing democrats have held the 42nd Assembly District since 1948! As you’ve read in the paper today, union politicians want to tax us another $2 billion/year to indoctrinate our 4-year-olds and another wants to double the number of school counselors – as if our children are failing because there aren’t enough union school employees! Of the $18K/yr we’re taxed to educate each child, only $8000 reaches our classrooms. If these schemes are passed, that number will shrink to $6000! How much worse do things have to get before we empower parents?

Our web site is up – www.JoinClark.com. We will be updating the site as we get closer to the Primary. Make sure to VOTE on June 6th and encourage your friends to do the same!

I am touring private and charter schools in the next few weeks to better understand the issues facing us in our public schools. Until parents are empowered with vouchers and independent charter schools, our children will stay stuck in what Harvard University now calls “drop-out factories.” I will post my Education Position Paper on this subject shortly. With Jackie Goldberg, our Mayor, and others jockeying to lead this union-controlled monster, we’ve got to take control away from these unions and return it to our parents!

Okay, I’m off my soapbox – for now. Have a good week and God Bless.

Sincerely,

Clark Baker

PS: We are challenging the unions and the politicians they buy to empower parents, students, and their teachers. This will be a tough fight and will require all of the financial support we can muster.
