California’s Liberal Leadership: Homosexual Marriage Redux
Liberals claim to care about democracy and “the people,” but only if the votes favor them. If not, then they resort to activist courts or they try to jam their way through the rear. It’s happening here.
S.F. Chronicle reports: “California’s newly sworn Legislature on Monday picked up where the old one left off, introducing an emotional bill to legalize gay marriage…”
What’s the point in voting, if it doesn’t count?
“Assemblyman Mark Leno, D-San Francisco, reintroduced legislation that would allow gay couples to marry in the state of California. And Sen. Carole Migden, D-San Francisco, introduced a bill that would let unmarried, heterosexual couples register as domestic partners.
Leno said he hoped the Republican Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger, who vetoed a nearly identical gay marriage bill in 2005, would change his position on the new bill. Schwarzenegger has said it is up to voters or the courts, not lawmakers, to settle the contentious issue of gay marriage”.
But that’s not good enough for gay activists who’ve made their way to the state’s Capitol. They want to ramrod it, regardless of how the voter’s feel.
So, what does this say about sending homosexuals into political office? Are we to presume that they will only advance their causes? Does that qualify them as “special interests” sitting in the elected seats of government. Sure seems like it. What message does that send? Will we see the same here? Or here?
How should voters judge future candidates, if the “will of the people” is not being respected today? We have some ideas, starting with indentifying who’s behind them.
