California Teachers Association: Union Dues Paying For Partisan Politics

CTA Union MembershipAgainst the wishes of its members.

AP reports: “A small group of teachers and lawyers who are seeking class action status for a lawsuit against the California Teachers Association was drowned out by screams and chants Thursday as they tried to hold a news conference outside the union’s office.”

Aren’t the unions concerned about making sure everyone has a voice? Must be on a selective basis.

The National Right to Work Foundation, which filed a lawsuit in U.S. District Court in San Jose on behalf of six named teachers and professors, claims the CTA is illegally collecting a $60 levy in each of the next three years to pay for electioneering.

The union voted to raise dues by that amount in hopes of raising $50 million to pay for a campaign against Propositions 74, 75 and 76 on the Nov. 8 special election ballot.

As Digger declares: “Imagine a group you are mandatory to be a part of at work was taking your money and supporting causes you didn’t agree with. It’s just total bullshit!

Couldn’t have said it better.

What’s the solution? Vote for Prop. 75
Tell others.
