UPDATE: 12:21PM
We received a few emails asking if CaliforniaConservative.org would be providing our own exclusive analysis. And we shall.
It’s quite simple and easy to remember:
-
If it costs more money, we vote NO.
If we don’t favor those supporting it, we vote NO.
(you can tell alot about the merits of a candidate or policy by considering the promoters)
We are against both Prop. 81 and 82.
If we can’t improve* the quality of our classrooms by requiring higher standards and measuring performance from teachers, throwing more taxpayers’ money at the problem isn’t going to fix things. It only perpetuates them until the next demand.

And guess what? It’s en espanol, too. Election fun for the whole family!
HEADLINES:
(via AP) Republican leads in bellwether House race
“In the most closely watched contest in eight states Tuesday, a former Republican congressman took the early lead in a bellwether House race in California where the parties hammered campaign themes of corruption and immigration that could play out in the fall midterm elections.
With 46 percent of precincts reporting, Republican Brian Bilbray was ahead with 35,505 votes, or 50 percent, to Democrat Francine Busby’s 31,955 votes, or 45 percent, in the special election to replace Randy “Duke” Cunningham, who was convicted of corruption charges
. . .Bilbray, made immigration the centerpiece of his campaign, proposing a fence “from the Pacific Ocean to the Gulf of Mexico” and restrictions to keep illegal immigrants from collecting Social Security and other benefits.

Hey,
Came out of the voting booth today (in a relatively conservative Bay Area town) and looked for my “I Voted” sticker.
All I could find were “Soy Voto.” Hmmm..
June 6th, 2006 at 5:04 pm
You’ve got to be kidding…
June 6th, 2006 at 5:14 pm
So, equitus, what you’re saying is that soybeans get to vote?
June 6th, 2006 at 6:11 pm
Hey there - Karen from CNN.
I think you posted on the wrong website - -this is not the dailykos!
We do not watch CNN!

Hey - did anyone else notice the COLOR of the ballots? The Republican ballot is a pinkish-red. Who’s got the yellow colored one? ;)
“Film at 11″

And, equitus, is a ‘voto’ larger than a ‘vente’? And, I bet it is better to say:
Mocha, Soy, Voto, No Whip

I’m sorry, I meant “Ya vote” I don’t speak Spanish, I counldn’t remember precisely, but I know what it said.
They did have English versions, but I had to ask to see if they had them.
June 6th, 2006 at 7:40 pm
I like Soy Voto better … I’m gonna order one tomorrow. ;)
June 6th, 2006 at 7:54 pm
I voted around 6:45pm. Walked in, there were about 5 or 6 people voting and probably 8 or 9 poll workers. I whipped out my Drivers License but the lady didn’t even bother with it (!). Republicans got red lettered booths and the Dems got yellow. Voted for McClintock and whoever he or the Howard Jarvis people endorsed. No on both prop’s. Would have voted for Ray Haynes (superstar assemblyman who’s getting termed out and is moving over to the Board of Equalization) but I guess I’m not in his district. Proudly wore my geeky “I Voted” sticker.
June 6th, 2006 at 8:00 pm
That’s funny. As a joke I’m going to ask for the Soy Voto stickers from now on. Even the election workers have had enough of this crap. My experience is you only need a drivers license the 1st time you vote after you change your address.
June 6th, 2006 at 8:22 pm
“Ya vote” means “I already voted” - accent on the ‘e’. Anyway, just checking in and looking around. Still kind of early for anything.

*Chuckles*
Well down in the High Desert we use the electronic voting machines. No Yellow or Red ballots for us. I’m surprised we have the electronic ones down here when others in state are still using paper. I’d think the big cities would get the electronic ones first. Huh.
I voted No on every initative including H here in Barstow about the indian Casino project. Lots of fun local political stuff you guys probably won’t care about. :)
June 6th, 2006 at 10:19 pm
We have MSM to thank for Prop 82 going down. All those millions of ballots with the huge bold headline “Universal Pre-school. Taxes those with incomes above $400,000″ with a YES/NO next to it are formidable. I fear the day when this same sort of crap gets on the ballot without the ever-hated Rob Reiner being involved.

I see where Democrats got another “moral victor” in the 50th congressional district. Good job, Republicans. Bilbray sworn in today?
June 7th, 2006 at 7:46 am
Let’s hope Phil Angelides is as much of a moral victor against Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger as Busby was in her race.
