Poll: Governor’s Approval Dips Below 50 percent
CBS News Channel 5 reports: “After ousting Gray Davis from the Governor’s Office, he looked invincible. But with his approval ratings sinking, Governor Schwarzenegger is looking more and more like other politicians.”
Note: Arnold should seriously consider granting us an interview with him. As the Governor’s website says, he’s “The People’s Governor” Talk to us, Arnie! Bitte.
“The honeymoon is over,†says San Francisco State Professor Gerald Heather. “He’s been in the limelight for quite a while and the aura has begun to wear off.â€Â
Polls show that women and Democrats are beginning to sour on Schwarzenegger. And the Democrats think they know why.
“He’s taken on education,†says California Democratic Chairman Art Torres. “There’s one thing that people do not want to see, and that is to remove our confidence and our support of education.â€Â
Excuuse me?? I think the voters absolutely, positively want the Governor to TAKE ON education, because we already have scarce confidence in our public schools system. And recent testing results don’t offer much hope.
A more clear-eyed perspective is:
“When you take tough positions, and he is basically trying to reform all the things that are wrong in the state of California, you’re going to have to have some opposition,†says supporter Arthur Bruzzone. “That’s the nature of partisan politics. So I think it’s a sign that he’s doing something right.â€Â
That’s right on. Liberals want to keep business as usual, and they don’t like it when you advance towards making real changes.
Just ask President George W. Bush.
