   Since Palin became governor about two years ago, no Russian invasion force has come across the Bering Strait, maybe because she was in charge of the Guard, maybe because she herself is a hunter and an athlete.

   FYI, the Alaska National Guard, far from being another bunch of weekend warriors is the only one with a 24/7 active duty assignment. They are in command of the former DEW Line charged with detecting, tracking, evaluating, and if need be, countering any long range missile threat coming at us from accross Siberia, Manchuria, N Korea. Granted thats not a serious threat at present, it does mean however, that the Governor of Alaska as their Commander in Chief, is equally privy to the same secret and top secret military info about Iran, Russia, China and N Korea that Joe Biden is.

   There is also fisheries enforcement done under her jurisdiction by the Coast Guard against poaching and other illegal catches and whaling by Japan, Taiwan, China, N and S Korea, Russia, etc.

   State of Alaska also operates its own railroad and ship line.

   So the Obama’s smirky comment about Alaska being a small state is ill informed.
