I wouldn't respect a Commander in Chief who said, "Let's get 'em", or something to that effect when we had to strike against the enemy. Davis was not given substantive lines. The writing was just poor. I don't believe the show's failure had much to do with the fact that she was female. They made her character too motherly. Yes, yes, being a mother is wonderful. But, did we get a heavy dose of Martin Sheen's family every episode of West Wing? They also made her babysit her husband's ego too much. Too bad...it was a good idea. Woman to watch, my former Navy CO, Marsha Evans, just retired as president of the Red Cross. She got a lot of air time during Katrina. THAT is a woman with integrity, leadership, and balls. No man in our command ever doubted who was in charge. I’m a retired Navy woman. Basically, it was the same tired feminist message about a brave woman facing off nasty conservatives while proving that she can have it all. In one recent episode, she faced down a nasty, insubordinate Pentagon and resolved an international crisis. I kept waiting for the group hug and a chorus of "Kumbaya." She is woman; hear me snore. You'd think the network programmers might get the message by now.
