That’s what this USA Today article is suggesting. Here’s the main section of the article:
“The only place they have to go is down,” says Fred Rozell, gasoline analyst at the Oil Price Information Service (OPIS). “We’ll be closer to $2 than $3 come Thanksgiving.” Travel organization AAA foresees prices 10 cents a gallon lower by the end of next week. It reported a nationwide average of $2.84 Tuesday, the lowest since April 20.
It’s good news for consumers and the economy. Continued lower prices “may act like a tax cut” and stimulate spending, says Richard DeKaser, chief economist at National City in Cleveland. He calculates that higher energy prices the first six months cut growth of consumer spending 1 percentage point.
When AAA makes gas price predictions, it’s usually a reliable forecast. The other forecasts seem to be bolstered by anecdotal evidence of dropping prices at the pump. It might also signal a drop in demand caused by an economic slowdown. We’ll have to see if what’s causing the drop. Either way, it’s welcomed.

Jack Kelly wrote a great article about Plamegate that’s well worth reading.
A new book by Michael Isikoff, an investigative reporter for Newsweek, and David Corn, who writes for the far left wing magazine The Nation, casts many powerful people in Washington in an unflattering light, but not the people who Mr. Isikoff and Mr. Corn wish to besmirch.
A brief review for those of you who have lives, and who consequently haven’t been following closely the details of the Plame Name Game: In his 2003 State of the Union address, President Bush said: “The British government has learned that Saddam Hussein recently sought significant quantities of uranium from Africa.”
First in leaks to reporters, and then in his own op-ed in the New York Times, a retired diplomat, Ambassador Joseph C. Wilson IV, said the president was lying. His claim to speak with authority was that in the spring of 2002, the CIA had sent him to Niger to see if Saddam had tried to buy uranium there.
As I said way back when, I didn’t take Wilson’s accusations, made in his now infamous NY Times op-ed, seriously because people that get sent on CIA junkets sign a nondisclosure agreement prior to their junket. The fact that Wilson leaked information about the trip and wasn’t even investigated for wrongdoing was a bright red flag for anyone interested in the truth. (continue reading post »)

Democrats expressed their outrage over Donald Rumsfeld’s comparison of today’s anti-war crowd with the Hitler appeasers of the 1930’s:
“It is a dangerous business to accuse those who disagree with you of moral and intellectual confusion,” said Rep. Ike Skelton of Missouri, the top Democrat on the House Armed Services Committee. “Debate in our democracy is based upon respect, not vilification.”
Said House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi, (D-CA): “If Mr. Rumsfeld is so concerned with comparisons to World War II, he should explain why our troops have now been fighting in Iraq longer than it took our forces to defeat the Nazis in Europe.”
Sen. Jack Reed, a member of the Armed Services Committee, said Rumsfeld has been “substituting sloganing for strategy” and delivered a “calculated political argument” to make people believe that to support a war against terror requires support of the administration’s policies. “I think the analogy is very, very weak,” Reed, (D-RI), said of Rumsfeld’s comparison of Iraq to World War II.
Sen. Charles Schumer of New York called Rumsfeld’s portrayal of Democrats a “straw man” and said Americans need answers on how to deal with a looming civil war in Iraq.
Frankly, I don’t think that the comparison is weak at all. The administration didn’t pick a great messenger but they got the message right. The good news is that Republicans aren’t staying silent on the issue: (continue reading post »)

In this instance, the “they” I’m talking about are journalists. Here’s the article I’m refering to:
You may have missed the march in downtown L.A. on Aug. 12, but I was there. I expected the Palestinian flags, the jaunty kaffiyehs, the drum-beating and brow-beating. But I nearly dropped my pen in the gutter when I heard cries of “Long live Hezbollah!” from the marchers.
It’s one thing to protest the Israel-U.S. alliance, to think Israel’s a big bully, etc. I don’t agree, but a free country is open to varied political discourse. Call everyone with whom you disagree a Nazi if it makes you feel better. But it’s quite another to cheer on a terrorist organization. And if you think it isn’t happening in the United States, you may have missed some recent far-left rallies where that anti-Israel stance crossed the line to anti-Semitism, where the traditional anti-Bush chants were supplemented with support for guerrilla militias armed by Iran.
It’s great to see the Agenda Media finally getting it. They’re finally coming to understanding that this is a real war, not a “metaphor” as Richard Holbrooke asserted in 2004.
Isn’t it ironic to read about such protests? It isn’t that they don’t have the right to protest here in America. It’s because the people that they’re protesting for those that don’t allow similar dissent in their native countries.

“Christian Zionists are ultimately responsible for whatever Israel does, whether they realize it or not! Of course they’re going to play dumb and say they’re powerless over Israel! We’re supposed to fall for that. The US Gov. could stomp Israel like a bug, if we had to! That’s where the Christian Zionist “beliefs” mix with US laws and Foreign Policy. They are favoring Israel because of their Zionist belief system.” Ninety [percent of readers expressing an opinion] agreed with this post.
Finally!!! It is no longer the Jews that cause all the problems in the Middle East. No, it is those crazy Christian Zionists!!! Just ask the supporters of MoveOn.org
Bigotry and hatred runs rampant among the supporters of MoveOn.org The leadership could denounce it, stop it, but they don’t. When you read the MoveOn blogs and article, you would think the Ku Klux Klan became socialists and instead of white sheets, they wear the look of fear and hatred. Of course what they really dislike is Freedom–that works against their worldview. If people can make decisions for themselves, then government won’t be needed. But, if you believe people are too stupid to govern themselves, then MoveOn is the place for you. Nothing people eat, drink, learn, say, believe is good enough–only government can shine the light on “Truth”.
When you read the pages of MoveOn you see that all the worlds problems start with the Middle East and US foreign policy in support of Israel. I had always thought that the United Nations certified the creation of the State of Israel, but we now know, according to MoveOn supporters that Christian Zionists conspired to create a State just for the purpose of stealing oil. Yet in the almost 60 years of the State of Israel, the US has yet to steal a drop of oil. We even give foreign aid (bribe money) to Egypt, Lebanon and other trouble spots controlled by terrorist groups. Just a reminder of history: When Israel was certified as a State, Jordan offered to take in all the Palestinian Arabs–yet the leadership decided it was better to live in poverty and war, then get an education and success. It was the choice of the forerunners of Hamas and Hezbollah to force the Muslim population in the Middle East to become a warrior class.

First, in San Francisco…

Today, in Utah…
Jews = Nazis*? Wow! Holy Moses. We knew public education was failing us, but that’s beyond despair.
Or as the old Virginia Slims slogan used to patronize: “You’ve come a long way, baby.” Sure do.
But it really makes you wonder: In the bastion of liberalism-run-amok that is San Francisco, where’s the collective outrage to such blatant displays of bigotry and intolerance?
Imagine someone holding a sign that declares, “Mexicans: Kick’em Out of America,” or “Blacks Back To Africa” or “Asians, Crowd Your Own Nations.” He wouldn’t dare show up in any public square, let alone trumpet across from City Hall.
It’s almost…as if…liberals are…selective in their tolerance. We can only dread the consequences had someone driven by with a bumper sticker that says “Vote Republican” — it might’ve created a French riot.

The United Nations is expected to pass an international treaty that will give disabled people more rights. The idea is to replace charity with rights to be enforced by an international government.
Critics in the United States believe this move is part and parcel of the United Nations goal of creating more international power over nation-states. Recently, in another power grap, the UN proposed an international tax on businesses and individuals in order to feed, clothe and house the impoverished.
The UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities was adopted and the treaty is likely to be adopted by the UN General Assembly during their next session.
This is the first human rights treaty to be passed in the 21st century and will serve an estimated 650 million disabled people in the world. Currently only 45 countries have special legislation protecting the disabled, including the United States with its Americans with Disabilities Act.
Ambassador Don MacKay of New Zealand said, ‘’It [the convention] will force states to develop a different way of thinking about disability issues. Once you get the paradigm shift… and people adopt a ‘can do’ rather than a ‘can’t do’ approach, a whole lot of other things flow from there.”
Parking and accessibility are a part of the treaty but the real goal is to have all countries agree to ensure the disabled equal rights to others. While cloaked in compassion, this power grab would give the United Nations jurisdiction over American businesses, especially small business owners who will have to pay for the UN’s standards such as wheelchair accessibility and special accommodations for the disabled.
The United States, however, reportedly will not be signing the treaty, stating that the laws and regulation contained in the ADA are comprehensive enough. Conservatives are loath to give an organization that is ineffective at best, dangerous at worst, more power over citizens within the US.

First, let’s dispense with the false and foolish notion that US Democrat leadership in the country is not unpatriotic. Of course it is. And, as would stand to reason, Democrat leaders are also anti-American. In truth, they don’t like the United States at all—at least the traditional USA that has made it a unique magnet to the rest of the world’s people.
We already know a few of the usual Democrat suspects—Senators John Kerry (D-MA), Russ Feingold (D-WI), Senate Minority Leader Harry Reid (D-NV), DNC Chairman Howard Dean and Congressman John “Wacky Jack” Murtha (D-PA). However, in case a few recollections need to be tweaked—let’s take a walk down a recently refurbished memory lane. Shall we?
Going back a bit in time, before he was elected to one of the leftist Massachusetts Senate positions, John Kerry trashed US troops in front of a Senate committee. Note: Even then he was beginning his anti-US political career. In 1971, Kerry spoke of his fellow soldiers by falsely stating: “They [US soldiers] told the stories at times they had personally raped, cut off ears, cut off heads, taped wires from portable telephones to human genitals and turned up the power, cut off limbs, blown up bodies, randomly shot at civilians, razed villages in fashion reminiscent of Genghis Khan, shot cattle and dogs for fun, poisoned food stocks, and generally ravaged the countryside of South Vietnam in addition to the normal ravage of war, and the normal and very particular ravaging which is done by the applied bombing power of this country.” Then, continuing his theme that US soldiers “terrorize”, in 2005 Kerry commented on CBS’ Face the Nation: “There is no reason that young American soldiers need to be going into the homes of Iraqis in the dead of night, terrorizing kids and children, you know, women, breaking sort of the customs of the—of the historical customs, religious customs.” Of course, Kerry never backed up his claims with anything even remotely resembling facts.
Note: Due to their incestuous relationship with the mainstream media, Democrats don’t have to use facts to support anything they say. Anti-American lies? You betcha’!

Just another “average guy” angry at the world, who decided to run down random pedestrians with his SUV? Or is there something else to this story?
S.F. Chronicle reports: “As many as 14 people were injured this afternoon by a motorist who drove around San Francisco running them down before he was arrested, authorities said.”
Seven of those injured were in critical condition, police and firefighters said.
Authorities have identified the man who was arrested as Ohmeed Aziz Popal, who has an address in Ceres.
Authorities said they believe Popal was the same driver who ran over a 55-year-old man walking in a bicycle lane in Fremont, at Fremont Boulevard near Ferry Lane, just after noon. That victim died.
In San Francisco, the attacks began around 1 p.m., but it was unclear in what order:
• Two people, one of them a child, were critically injured around by a sport-utility vehicle on the 3500 block of California Street in the Richmond District.
UPDATE:
“He was a very respectful, quiet, nice guy,” said Hamid Nekrawesh, 43, a first cousin in Fremont. “I’ve never seen him do anything violent.'’
First time for everything.
Perhaps Ohmeed Aziz was “inspired” by the recent anti-Israel rally in San Francisco. (See photos) Those people are probably not shedding any tears.
The Anchoress adds:
“Can you imagine, if someone had (God forbid!) driven a car into 14 gay people, how quickly the press would have managed to cover the story?
Two snaps and a twist.
Can you imagine that Mayor Newsom would call it “road rage” and suggest that there really probably wasn’t a “hate crime” attached to the action?
What the hell is wrong with the press, what the hell is wrong with the leadership? Why are they so incapable of calling anti-semitism what it is, of calling a terrorist action what it is?”
Maybe you should ask the Board of Supervisors.
UPDATE:
Michelle Malkin picks up on the story. A
The SUV struck two people in front of the Jewish Community Center of San Francisco on California Street, a few blocks from where the rampage ended.
Blood covered the sidewalk in front of the center’s gift store entrance, and 50 feet farther down the sidewalk lay a mangled bicycle.
