Truth in humor? Outrageous. Michelle Malkin reports.
If advertising is the new tool for immigration politics, Armageddon Project has a good one, too.

“Meet Los Angeles’s Ted Hayes. He’s black, dreadlocked–and belongs to the GOP.”
WSJ has the story: “More blacks than ever support vouchers and faith-based initiatives, and side with President Bush on gay marriage. Mr. Hayes recently made the transition himself, ending a long journey for this former leftist who founded Dome Village, an outcropping of pod-like homeless shelters along the freeway in downtown Los Angeles.”
Keep hope alive.

America is not alone.
Reuters reports: “German Foreign Minister Joschka Fischer took responsibility Monday for lax visa policies that allowed waves of criminals into Germany, as he began testifying in a scandal that has hurt the government and his own standing.”
Fischer spoke as a new poll showed his approval ratings had sunk to their lowest level since Chancellor Gerhard Schroeder’s Social Democrats (SPD) took power in 1998 in a coalition with Fischer’s Green Party.
Fischer is accused of overseeing a loosening of entry rules at German consulates, leading to the issue of thousands of visas to gangs trafficking in people and other criminals, mainly from Ukraine, between 2000 and 2002.
This is a story worth following, as it underscores the harsh reality of immigration.
As the Minutemen have shown us, America has a real problem with unsecure borders. And to make matters worse, there’s probably too many doors also open in Washington, D.C.
Maybe we need to put a few politicians on trial.

USAToday Op-Ed writes: “Two decades or so ago, South America was a region where right-wing military dictators were falling like dominoes as a tide of democracy rolled into Chile, Argentina, Paraguay and other countries. Optimism abounded that freedom and market economics would lift the region from its long malaise, much as democratic rumblings in Lebanon, Iraq and the Palestinian territories have raised hopes recently for the Mideast.
These days, though, what’s being called a “pink tide” is eroding South America’s democratic gains.”
The poor and middle classes feel that democracy has been hijacked by corrupt politicians and that its benefits haven’t trickled down to them. They’re protesting, demanding leaders who will do something - anything - to improve their lives. They’re forcing out those who don’t deliver and electing leaders whose “pink” populism is leftist but less revolutionary and harsh than Fidel Castro’s discredited “red” communism.
Just like liberalism in America, the major catalyst is envy - those who want protesting those who have. And electing “leaders” who promise handouts, cloaked in the language of “entitlements.”
Perhaps we can glean a lesson as we look towards Iraq.

Chicago Tribune reports: “Compromise on alcohol leaves Afghans shaken, stirred”
Abdul Jabar Sabit, dressed in traditional robe and hat, with a full, white beard, is the Afghan equivalent of the moral police, the main enforcer in Kabul against alcohol and prostitution.
“You are Muslim, aren’t you?” he said to the Turkish manager of one fully stocked bar. “You aren’t allowed to serve this liquor.”“We are Muslim,” manager Cenk Acar said. “But this is business.”
Capitalism, straight up.

Thanks to the Minuteman Project, conservative radio and bloggers, and FOXNews reporting on it, the issue of immigration is hotter than ever and has recently received some of the much- needed national attention it deserves.
It deserves more.
Another voice speaking out on the dangers of unchecked, unrestrained, unguarded immigration has been Peter Brimelow For several years, Mr. Brimelow has worked together with others in support of VDARE.com, a website dedicated to providing news and analysis on the topic. It is a tremendous resource for relevant information.
Currently, they are having an important fundraising drive to support their research efforts and continued contributions to the category.
VDARE’s homepage declares a message by Bryanna Bevens: “VDARE readers are the best! You guys have put up with my fund-raising spiel, not to mention my mug, on the home page for a week and change with very little complaint.”
When you actually see her photo, you’ll realize it’s hardly something to complain about. (And she probably knows that, too) But more to the point, Bevens writes:
“There are basically two sources for news and information: Mainstream Media (MSM) or The We’re-Not-Lying-To-You- But-The-Mainstream-Media-Is internet… short title: VDARE.com.”
An illustration:
This is how the San Francisco Chronicleâ€â€and yes, I believe reading the Chronicle is the legal definition of aid and comfort to the enemyâ€â€editorializes (April 21) about the illegal immigration problem:
“The nation and its representatives in Washington, appear deadlocked on a number of immigrant-related issuesâ€â€most prominently the 10.4 million migrants who are living in the United States without legal documents.â€Â
This editorial has more airbrushing than Mariah Carey’s last magazine cover shot.
It would have you believe that there a simply a handful of people milling around looking for lost paperwork or somethingâ€â€illegal immigrants are not the problem, it’s those darn documents.
But you know better. And that’s why VDARE.com matters. Peter Brimelow explains more about their cause.
The mainstream media is unconcerned with thee problems immigration causesâ€â€and frankly could care less if America dissolves into chaos.
At VDARE.com, we care very much. But we don’t have the limitless coffers of, for example, the Chronicle.
We need to keep the real story out there for the public, and the politicians, to read. Again, this is where you come in…
If you care about the critical issue of immigration, and in California we definitely should because it directly affects our schools, our businesses, our infrastructure and our economy, please visit VDARE.com.
Surf around. Read what they have to offer. And seriously consider dropping a few bills so that they can continue “fighting the good fight” for the future of America.

In honor of Sean Penn and his latest screen role starring in “The Interpreter,” which opens in theaters worldwide today, we wanted to help out with a special promotion of our own.

In the movie, Penn portrays a federal agent charged with protecting a U.N. interpreter while thwarting an assassination plot.
Knowing how much Mr. Penn likes playing a “peace keeper,” we thought it only appropriate to remind everyone of his daring actions only a few years ago. In particular, his special trip to Baghdad in 2002 where he met with top Iraqi official Tariq Aziz before the war began (but wouldn’t reveal what they talked about) and, before that, publishing his “Open Letter” to President Bush.
The war is over. Saddam is in custody and awaiting trial. The death camps and rape rooms are closed. Iraq is freed from tyranny. Elections have been held and a government established. And a proud people have a new chance to build upon democracy towards a better future. May they embrace liberty and freedom, and become an anchor of stability within the Middle East.
Has it been easy so far? Hell no. But, as the saying goes, nothing worthwhile ever is. If Sean Penn and his Hollywood friends had their way, the world would be a more dangerous place.
Here’s to you, Sean.
To enlarge, click on any of the images above. Then to save, right-click on the image.
Please pass any of these on to others, so that Sean Penn will know we’re thinking of him at the box office.
